POSITION: Lower School EAL and Learning Support Teacher
STARTING DATE: August 2025
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: To collaborate with classroom teachers in order to create and maintain a positive and effective environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional learning. Work with the Learning Support team and the Lower School Director to build, utilize, and maintain systems that ensure student support is effective for this student population. To identify and monitor students with learning differences and those learning English as an additional language via specialized assessments. To work in partnership with classroom teachers and the Student Support Team to create and implement learning plans focusing on individual goals and interventions for identified students. To conduct ongoing assessments of student performance and to share the results in order to track student progress, adapt instruction, and provide individual feedback to meet the needs of all students. To implement Tier 2 and 3 RTI instructional systems to increase student achievement. To promote and maintain appropriate student behavior using Responsive Classroom as a model for behavior and classroom management. To actively partner with parents to ensure student success within the classroom and the ASM community. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Teacher Certification + minimum 3 years teaching experience. Certification or Masters and experience in EAL required. Certification or Masters of Special Education, special needs training, or relevant experience and qualifications from an accredited institution. Knowledge and experience with Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Experience working with teams and groups. Experience in using technology as an instructional tool - especially Google. Experience in supporting teachers to use student data to inform instructional practices. A desire to have fun, build community and support childhood at ASM. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Working hours: 8:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
