Responsible for the operation of the Madrid warehousing and distribution function, acting as the Import and Export coordinator for the site. Leading an autonomous department to deliver organizational and operational results in line with the site strategy and specific objectives for the department(s) including: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Engagement, Attendance, Training, and Development.
Responsibilities:
Own staffing and development including coaching, training, and qualification of department teams to ensure the acquisition of all vital skills to achieve the overall warehouse operational plan, troubleshoot deviations from process autonomously.
Role-model the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4i Values and Operations Competencies and use as a day-to-day guide in decision making within your department.
Use all available resources to achieve your department goals.
Take accountability for the results of the department and responsibility for the decisions made. Ensure that any operatives are clear on their individual responsibilities, operating principles, and that the operating systems are followed and maintained at all times.
Establish and maintain the standards for your department for safety, quality, 5S standard, attendance/cover, and other operating systems. Personally role model the implementation and execution of the systems and standards in your department to ensure full implementation of the daily cycle with all associated operating systems.
Set daily direction by effectively leading tiered meetings. This will include, but is not limited to: reviewing daily results to establish gaps and priorities, leading troubleshooting of open barriers to the root-cause, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration within and between the team members.
As Co-Ordinator, implement and follow procedures to ensure compliance with applicable global trade laws and regulations as well as Global Trade Compliance Policy.
Handle and update "shipments file" relevant to each delivery.
Work closely with customs broker to follow up on customs clearance.
Manage SADS and customs documents.
Contact couriers to speed up deliveries, lead claims and requests, and address shipping issues.
Empower individuals within the department, and develop them into a strong, autonomous, and engaged team.
Build an environment that encourages individual and team growth.
Set clear, comprehensive expectations, set an example, provide meaningful, timely feedback about performance, train, and coach to continuously improve individual performance and business results.
Learn by doing and guide by example, promoting a 'Review and learn' approach at individual, team, and department levels.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Proficient in Spanish and English is essential.
Expert leader of people (within a Warehousing/operations environment ideally but not essential).
