LM596 - Head Of Political, Science & Research Basque Country Permanent* / full time. Greenpeace International (GPI) is looking for a Head of Political, Science and Research to play a key leadership role in our International Programme Department - enhancing the performance, cohesion and alignment of our entire global network and building on their policy, research and analysis expertise across our campaigns. The International Programme Department provides vision, strategic direction, steer and support for an ambitious Global Programme, with a focus on impact-critical National and Regional Organisations (NROs).
Leading and managing the design and development of impactful policy, research and analysis strategies and processes, you will facilitate support to NRO teams seeking issue expertise on Politics and Science and key cross cutting topics, and also lead the development and integration of multiple pools of expertise inside the department, the Greenpeace network and with key allies, creating a stronger Global Programme and global movement for change.
In this role you will:
Ensure alignment of Political, Science and Research work with the overall Global Programme Plan.
Co-create and drive forward Global Iconic Campaigns with policy, research and analysis.
Lead the internal processes necessary to scan different disciplines and issues to hold a medium term view of key cross cutting topics and areas of interest for Greenpeace's campaign and engagement work.
Build and manage an integrated programme approach, with Programme Directors and (co-)heads.
Strengthen, support and co-create policy, research and analysis with NRO program leads, project leaders and issue experts in the Political, Science and Research community.
Establish transparent project criteria and decision making for the development of key cross cutting topics and the management of internal and external networks of expertise.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key allies and strategic partners to align policy, research and analysis and maximise the impact of the global movement.
Engage with key decision makers and influential thought leaders in relevant areas.
Facilitate NRO-NRO collaboration, especially in the Global South.
Foster dialogue and smart risk-taking.
Lead, manage and develop a multidisciplinary team including the Head of the Science Unit, Policy Analysts, Expert Analysts and Coordinators in their policy, research, analysis and coordination roles.
Task manage staff members from other areas who are allocated to the Political, Science and Research team, as well as consultants retained for specific tasks/projects.
Ensure the effective budgeting, management and expenditure of internal resources.

Significant experience in a senior strategic campaigns and/or engagement role, including leading international teams.
A track record of leading policy, research and analysis projects and/or teams.
A track record of contributing to successful change management processes.
Significant experience of systemic and strategic thinking.
Significant experience of designing and working with JEDIS principles.
Significant experience working in multilateral fora and multicultural environments, across different geographies and timezones.
Exceptional strategic, influencing, negotiation, communication and facilitation skills.
Relevant expertise covering the equity and climate justice concerns at the heart of Greenpeace campaigns and engagement.
