.Context And MissionThe Life Sciences Department is composed of 6 research groups and 7 technical units covering the main areas of Computational Biology and bioinformatics, including genome analysis and annotation, structural bioinformatics, network biology, and text mining. The Department hosts the coordination and technical nodes of the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB-ISCIII) node of ELIXIR. Overall, the department has as a common goal the technical, computational, and scientific challenges in the field of Personalised Medicine.Cross-sectional to the research groups and units, there is a Life Science Scientific Coordination unit in charge of developing collaborations, new contacts, and scientific projects across the Department, as well as ensuring appropriate communication with the management and financial departments of the BSC.The mission of this role is in the framework of the growing need to monitor the management and ethics of sensitive data in biomedical projects at the BSC premises, from its acquisition (formalised with appropriate data transfer agreements) to its use during the project (with the appropriate security provisions) and its storage or destruction after the project's finalisation (in accordance with the signed specific agreements). The selected candidate will work closely with scientists that use these data and with the internal departments to ensure that ethical, legal, and security provisions are aligned. The candidate will also contribute to pre- and post-award duties related to data management and ethics of sensitive data in an HPC setting.Key DutiesOver-arching contribution to research projects and activities in relation to sensitive data management and ethics.Act as a bridge with the Operations Department regarding data management and compliance with regulations, maintaining regular interactions with Principal Investigators.Ensure the ethics, safety, privacy, and GDPR conditions for sensitive biomedical data in Life Science Department research projects.Prepare work package reporting for those projects needing management of sensitive biomedical data.Preparation of project proposals and scientific presentations in relation to the ethics and management of sensitive biomedical data.Technical management of strategic projects.Contract Management. Take the lead in negotiating, supervise the drafting and signing process of contracts for data transfer agreements.Ensure (and deliver, when needed) appropriate training in ethics, legal and security requirements of data for people that manage sensitive biomedical data in their day-to-day research.RequirementsEducationUniversity Degree in health science, IT or engineering.PhD in the biomedical area.Specific training in Project Management or equivalent experience.Essential Knowledge and Professional ExperienceExperience in the management of projects in the Bioinformatics area.At least three years' experience in research project management
