Horizon 2020Reference Number: No GA 101093169Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? NoOffer Description The project will develop and exploit multiscale computational codes to study the behavior of different classes of suspended objects under non-intrusive forcings. These include ultrasounds and internal active processes. The behavior of these systems requires reaching a wide spectrum of length and time scales to identify how inclusions react to different types of forcings, how they move and react to these perturbations, and how they self-assemble.Understanding the merging patterns in different regimes and how these individual inclusions and self-assembled structures can be manipulated to provide control in small amounts of matter in the microscale requires the development and exploitation of multiscale, hybrid algorithms that can exploit the top generation of HPC infrastructures. The project will integrate a multiscale methodology that enables seamless concurrent coupling of supramolecular and continuum models into corresponding community codes (LAMMPS, waLBerla, and Ludwig) to perform large-scale multiscale simulations of complex composites from particle-based to macroscopic length scales. This paves the way for the development and optimization of a virtual machine for large-scale biomolecular simulations. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with: Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, or related fieldsStrong background in simulations and HPCGood knowledge in statistical physics and biophysicsExcellent programming skills (C++, Python, etc.)Proficiency in spoken and written EnglishSpecific Requirements Experience with scientific modelingExperience with multiscale modelingExperience with High Performance ComputingGood team spiritAptitude to collaborate with both technical and scientific collaboratorsPassion for applications of multiscale modeling approachesHighly motivated for researchLanguages ENGLISH Level: ExcellentResearch Field Computer science, PhysicsYears of Research Experience 4 - 10Additional Information Eligibility criteria:Scientific backgroundComputational experienceKnow-how of HPC facilitiesAdequacy of the CV (maximum 50)Specialty doctorate (30), generic doctorate (10)Letter of motivation (maximum 20)Experience in the field (maximum 30).
