We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Information Security team. The successful candidate will need to feel comfortable supporting data security and privacy counseling, and responding to information security incidents, and have a demonstrated interest in technology. You will also play an important role in shaping processes to help the Legal Department scale as Appian continues to grow, and to drive important legal compliance initiatives relating to product development, privacy, and data protection. Prior knowledge of data protection law or a compliance-related field of law is preferred. This position will report to Appian's Senior Counsel, Security and Technology. Before and after regular business hours may be required.To be considered for this role please apply with an English version of your CV - thank you!Job Responsibilities:Review of contract language and compliance requirements in contractual documentationRepresent Appian on calls and communications with Appian's customers and prospects to explain Appian's security posture and to negotiate information security termsProvide advice to engineers, product managers, and security specialists on Appian's platform, including compliance with applicable data security and privacy laws and regulations, security by design, and security frameworks and industry certificationsCollaborate with engineers and compliance professionals to develop and iterate on legal-security processes, including updates to security policies, plans, procedures, and organizational standardsWork cross functionally with Legal and technical teams to create disclosure of term agreements based on Appian's product terms and stance on privacy and data securityDevelop and facilitate employee training based on new legal developments and industry specific regulations within PaaS, IaaS, and SaaSThinking independently to improve and update systems, processes, and existing documentationTo be successful in this role, you will need:Excellent English skills and the ability to read critically, write persuasively, and speak fluentlyEffective writing and interpersonal skillsSelf-starter, taking the initiative to handle complex challenges, prioritizing multiple ongoing projects, and developing quick turn-around contract management strategiesExcellent process-building and program management skillsSkilled with Google G Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other software tools as requiredSolid business judgmentChange positiveQualifications:Qualified attorney with a minimum of two-three years' combined experience in law firm, government, and/or in-house legal department, preferably in the technology industryRelevant certifications: CISSP, CIPP, CISA or equivalent experienceData security or privacy experienceExperience collaborating with various levels of personnel#J-18808-Ljbffr
