You will be part of the Business Legal Team that advises in a wide range of matters related to:
the legal requirements of our consumer facing websites and apps including displays and content, end-to-end search and booking/purchase processes;
terms and conditions for our website, products, promotions and contests;
access to supplier content and inventory; and
commercial litigation.
Your focus will be the DACH region, however, you will be part of a small but high performing international team of lawyers each working on domestic and global topics. You will therefore also have multi-regional responsibility and will be pivotal in the provision of quality cross-border legal advice.
What you'll do:
The main tasks are listed below. The role may evolve according to the priorities identified by the group given the dynamic and responsive nature of the Legal Team.
Advise on consumer law and the application of same in respect of our products and services, and on the legal requirements of our websites and content;
Draft, update and maintain terms and conditions of our websites/apps and our products and services;
Review and advise on marketing materials, promotional rules and campaigns and consumer communications;
Manage strategic litigation (B2B, regulatory or high value claims) in conjunction with external counsel;
Manage our brand reputation by reporting and escalating where necessary any brand abuse and defamatory content;
Horizon scan for upcoming changes in laws and regulations, industry trends, best practices, and emerging legal issues that may impact the business, and assist in implementation where needed;
Participate as a proactive business partner and trusted legal advisor communicating legal risk factors and legal concepts clearly to internal stakeholders;
Draft and maintain internal legal team guidance and know how documents and precedents, and provide internal training.
About you:
A fully qualified lawyer in Germany ("Volljurist/In" with both "Staatsexamina") with excellent academic credentials;
Fluent in English (working language) and German. The candidate must have excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to draft complex legal texts in English and German;
A minimum of 3+ years' professional experience practising as a lawyer in either a top class law firm or in-house with consumer law focus;
Significant experience in the digital sector is required, experience in the travel industry is an advantage but not essential;
Very strong EU consumer law knowledge and experience drafting Terms and Conditions is essential;
Excellent cross-functional collaboration, communication and influencing skills with a focus on stakeholder management;
Well organised, with the ability to prioritise and manage numerous projects simultaneously under tight deadlines;
Desire and motivation to design and implement streamlined procedures and workflows;
Pragmatic with strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Versatility is essential as you will be asked to assist in a wide range of matters.
