.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT As Legal & Compliance Counsel, you will be a proactive member of the legal and compliance organization. Responsibilities include providing legal support to projects and operations in Spain and Portugal and representing BASF with external stakeholders if required. In this role, you will be a competent and trusted partner for business and management at all levels, involving relevant counterparts at headquarters to contribute to virtual legal teams for the respective operating divisions (ODs) and service units. Your responsibilities will be: In-house legal advice to management and ODs on all legal issues, elaborate opinions and queries about contracts, including commercial, corporate, antitrust, compliance and governance matters. Professional legal advice, including negotiations and contract drafting with special focus on commercial agreements. Assessment of business cases from a variety of legal viewpoints. Research and analyze relevant laws, regulations and judicial precedents to ensure that the company complies with applicable legal standards. Legal counterpart in M&A transactions, joint ventures and restructurings to multiple commercial units and functional departments. Giving trainings to staff on national and international contract law, compliance and antitrust law. Compliance case handling. Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of internal compliance controls. Supporting the compliance effectiveness monitoring across BASF Group. Managing, in collaboration with external lawyers, litigation, arbitration or other legal processes. Provide advice and counsel on all aspects of compliance, antitrust law and data protection. WHAT YOU OFFER Spanish Master's degree in Law. Additional professional training/qualifications or relevant regulatory experience (e.G. data privacy) is a plus. Ideally 3+ years of experience as a legal counsel in a business environment, preferably with an international corporation. Good knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures, independence, responsibility and integrity, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and ability to pragmatically balance risks with operational needs. Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage, occasionally, high workload. A proactive team player with initiative and drive, who enjoys building relationships with colleagues from various functions of a global company and engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Outstanding communication skills in both oral and written English and Spanish.
