Job Title: Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer Division : Minerals Location: Hybrid, Madrid/Seville-Spain PURPOSE OF ROLE: As a key member of the Capital Projects Department, the Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for providing expertise and technical leadership in the disciplines of Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (E&I&C) Engineering along the various phases of design of Mineral Processing Plants, within the context of tendering and executing Capital Projects, ranging from Conceptual Design to the Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Project Closure stages, being responsible for supervising internal and external resources, and accountable for ensuring that E&I&C engineering and project deliverables are in line with contract requirements.
The position also holds the responsibility of Leading the Synertrex and Digital Initiatives for WME.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership and project management for the Electrical, Instrumentation and Control disciplines of capital projects along the entire project life, including scope definition, cost estimation, design, implementation schedule, vendor coordination, installation and commissioning support and deliverables sign-off.
• Provide Automation and Process Control expertise in coordination with the relevant stakeholders across the Weir group, to develop the design and boost the capabilities and functions of Weir Minerals' Synertrex's platform, extending the solutions portfolio that rely of this system, and holding the Synertrex Champion role for WME.
Work as a discipline lead engineer in international engineering and delivery projects Manage budget, quality and schedule of the Electrical, Instrumentation & Control engineering disciplines Perform equipment selections and specifications for both the electrical infrastructure and field instrumentation of solutions and Capital Projects, in accordance to the application specifics and the applicable regulatory standards Participate in the definition of control philosophies, SCADA configuration, and control functional specification narratives Represent WME in front of customers for any enquiries relating the Electrical, Instrumentation and Control engineering disciplines Lead and guide Electrical and Instrumentation contractors and suppliers Participate in process instrumentation and Synertrex Solutions sales and integration.
Duties might include, but are not limited to: o Plant layout overview configuration o Designing three wire drawings, cable routing, Single Line diagrams (SLD), & Hardware configurations o MCC Panel Design o PLC Panel Design o PLC programming o HMI, SCADA and control systems configuration, development and programming (Control Philosophy, Logic Diagrams, Cause and Effect, Functional Description) o P&ID diagrams definition, revision and sign-off o To coordinate/ identify the E&I&C engineering tasks and assign E&I&C engineering responsibilities to all project stakeholders to meet the E&I&C design requirements (Vendors, Designers, process engineers, product managers, consultants, supply chain) o To organize and lead the E&I&C reviews internally and with the partners o To check and release the technical specification for bought out instruments (technical specs, drawings and data sheets) Experience and Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering or related discipline AND a minimum of 12 years of experience as a Design, Service or Maintenance E&I or Automation Engineer Master's Degree in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering or related discipline AND a minimum of 8 years of experience as a Design, Service or Maintenance E&I or Automation Engineer Previous experience within the Mining Industry, in roles involving the design, operation and/or maintenance of mineral processing and/or extractive metallurgy plants would be preferred, but candidates coming from other industries would also be considered Previous experience in design engineering functions within the context of Industrial Facilities Capital Projects Development would be considered as an advantage Prior experience or exposure to control systems architecture configuration, process control software development and coding and/or advanced process control strategies will be considered a plus Core Competencies A methodical approach to work with a high attention to detail to ensure the highest accuracy of their work.
Must be interested and capable of learning and use a diverse set of design & processing software to visualize 3D layouts or flowsheets etc.
