Reporting to the Chief Geologist/Exploration Manager/VP Exploration, the Senior Geologist is responsible for the management of the Corporation's exploration program. The Senior Geologist role is a technical role and requires wide experience in the exploration for and development of economic mineral resources, preferably in gold. A sound technical background with respect to the implementation of geochemical, geological and geophysical surveys and the interpretation of field data is required, as well as extensive field experience in a variety of geological settings. Good compilation skills and technical writing skills are definite assets and the ability to manage a large technical team.
The Senior Geologist will oversee the generation of exploration targets, the implementation of the exploration program to test such targets and the development of geological models resulting in the development of mineral resource estimates. The Senior Geologist will be responsible for the implementation of best practice industry procedures, notably to NI 43-101 standards. The Senior Geologist should have experience in developing resource estimates, have assisted in the production of scoping studies and have worked on pre-feasibility and feasibility studies of both underground and open pit resources. Experience in operating mines would be an asset. The role includes assuring adherence to all statutory requirements and Company Safety, Health and Environmental standards and procedures. The Senior Geologist is responsible for the definition and delineation of the Company's mineral resources and the management of the Company's exploration program in regard to identifying and exploring for new and additional deposits.
A Professional Geoscientist designation is required as is recognition as a Qualified Person under NI 43-101 or JORC. The position can be located in Toronto, Ontario but will require significant presence on the project locations.
Responsibilities:Responsible for identifying and designing programs to explore for, discover, define and delineate the growth of the Company's mineral resource base.Responsible for ensuring that the geological, geophysical and geochemical field surveys are properly planned, executed, documented and/or interpreted.Expected to implement and oversee the best practice techniques in the collection, documentation and interpretation of geological, geochemical and geophysical data.Responsible for the management and collection of required exploration data to achieve the Company goals including the core logging and cutting facilities and the collection of data required from the facilities.Expected to compile, prepare and present investor and technical presentations.Expected to maintain good communications within the group assigned to the project as well as with other departments of the Company.Expected to draw upon technical expertise and experience to address specific technical/geological aspects of a specific program.Responsible for motivating and maintaining a high level of enthusiasm within the exploration group for the project and the company's success.Develop an active program to create continuous education and development of skills of the exploration team.Continually identify and evaluate new opportunities for resource potential through exploration, acquisition or earn-ins to add to the underlying value of the Company.Expected to play an active role, supervising, planning, organizing and controlling various technical and operational aspects of the program.Manage the planning and budgeting of all exploration programs.Assist in identifying and completing due diligence studies to add value to the Company through organic growth, M&A activities, sales, spin-offs or joint ventures.Ability to develop, manage and maintain required QA/QC procedures to best industry practices.Manage and control the data quality and compilation, interpretation and estimation methodology.Continually evaluate and review new technologies and techniques as well as methodologies for improvements to the effectiveness and costs of the exploration program.Identify outside consultants, associations and experts who could add value to the Company assets through targeted studies and reviews.Manage and oversee updated resource updates, and technical reports of the Company assets.Identify suitable qualified personnel to complete the work.Ability to write or contribute on the writing of regulatory reports to the stock exchange and other authorities as necessary, including as a QP under NI 43-101.Expected to maintain good communication with the other members of the staff as well as support groups.Establish ongoing engagement with professional groups and organizations to raise awareness of the Company and its assets within the industry.Expected to represent the company in a professional manner at all times.Follow and maintain the Standard Operating Procedures of the Company.Participation in and implementation of the Company's Health and Safety program.
