Layout Lead Artist

As a Layout lead artist, you will generate the previz of the film in accordance with the established storytelling guidelines to show how the characters and environments appear on camera. The Lead helps the Supervisor manage the team of Layout artists and provides solutions and alternatives.



Responsibilities



• Constructs shots in 3d space to provide a visual run-through of the sets.

• Communicates the story based on the storyboards and gives a cinematic aspect to the scenes.

• Aids in the rough layout of the scenes following the storyboards to show how the characters and environments appear on camera.

• Utilizes storyboard animatics to create 3d scenes through character blocking and acting.

• Applies the visuals provided by character design and modelling to create the rough layout of the scenes.

• Leads the team providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that contribute towards their artistic and professional growth, making sure all the assets follow the quality standards and artistic direction and that achieves the deadlines.

• Follows the Supervisor's guidance.

• Keeps up on current technology trends and tools (hardware and software) that best suit the production (and the company) in the development of a stronger creative technical environment.



Requirements

• 6 years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries.

• At least 1 year of experience as Lead in the animation industry.

• Strong artistic or/and technical aptitude related to 3D animation is a must.

• Knows how to use elements to stage camera blocking.

• Knowledge of photography and storytelling.

• Experience in Maya, Premiere and Shotgun.

• Linux experience is a plus.

• Advanced English level.

• Spanish oral and written, is desirable.
