We use advanced population genomics techniques to characterize the genetic bases of bacterial adaptation and phenotypes, with particular emphasis on antibiotic resistance; as well as genomic surveillance methods to study the epidemiology of pathogenic bacteria. We also work on the development of bioinformatics tools and standards for the analysis and interpretation of genomic data, and on the identification of genetic markers for epidemiological surveillance and molecular diagnosis of pathogenic bacteria and antimicrobial resistance. We work collaboratively with molecular bacteriologists, infectious diseases physicians, public health laboratories, and other groups in microbial genomics to carry out our projects. The IBV-CSIC hosts multiple research groups in microbiology that use genomic, transcriptomic, and molecular and structural biology techniques applied to the study of pathogenic bacteria. The institute maintains collaborations with other research institutes (FISABIO, IATA, I2SysBio), universities, and hospitals in the city of Valencia. Overall, the IBV-CSIC is a pioneering research institution in microbiology and microbial genomics in Spain.Where to apply E-mail: ******Requirements Research Field: Biological sciences » OtherEducation Level: Bachelor Degree or equivalentSkills/Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or similar disciplines.Higher Technician within the framework of vocational training in the Spanish educational system
