The candidate would be expected to be part of a rotation in nights, weekends, and holidays. Being able to work independently and having experience in genetics or molecular biology techniques are a plus; however, we are prepared to train the right candidate.
Experience: Laboratory science degree or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution (Ciclos formativos de grado superior). Proficient in standard biology laboratory techniques, such as laboratory math, pipetting, buffer preparation, etc. Relevant molecular skill set consisting of the molecular fundamentals, RNA and DNA extraction from blood, saliva, and other tissue specimens (manual and automated extraction), nucleic acids quantification, PCR, RT-PCR, MLPA techniques, and sample library preparation for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). Experience with NGS (Thermo Fisher and Illumina Platforms) and Fragment Analyzer systems preferred. Experience with daily setup and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supply. Demonstrate clear ability to explain experience with specific instrument platforms, including test principle(s), what controls were in place, and how results were interpreted and reported out. Previous experience with automated liquid handling equipment is a plus. Basic understanding of MS Office programs. Proficient in English (written and spoken) strongly preferred. Key knowledge, skills, and abilities: Highly organized and strong work ethic. Understanding of the requirements of national and international accreditation programs (CLIA, CAP, ISO) and experience with inspections for compliance with checklist requirements. Be familiar with all regulatory, quality assurance, quality control, standard operating, and safety procedures to audit-ready standards. Good organizational and communication skills required. Strong attention to detail and precision in laboratory tasks. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Teamwork - Commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals through a desire to participate with and help other members of the team. Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual. Dependable, follow instructions, respond to management direction, complete tasks on time or notify the appropriate person with an alternate plan. Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required. Must possess the ability to perform repetitive motion.
