.CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus and currently hosts 200 members from across the world. The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a PhD Student to be part of the group Protein regulation in development and stress. The candidate will be participating in: Cloning of fluorescent protein fusions with SUMOylation machinery E.Coli transformation and protein purification Protein analysis techniques for the generated proteins, such as SDS-page, western blot, native gels Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) Plant production (A. thaliana) and protein purification from tissues Plant RNA extraction, RNA-seq preparation, and data analysis cDNA synthesis and quantitative PCR analysis The candidate is expected to conduct research under the supervision of Dr. L. Maria Lois including: Day to day responsibility for the conduct and satisfactory progress of the research; Keep meticulous experimental records, analyze data, interpret reports and bring new insights to research area; Keep up to date with the relevant literature, evaluate and criticize texts; Contribute ideas and be involved with the longer-term planning of the project; Work safely and responsibly with regard to CRAG rules; Participate inlaboratory organization and function; Contribute to group meetings; The tasksare included within the framework of the project PID2021-123572NB-I00 "Study of signaling networks linked to cytosolic SUMOylation facilitated by SUMO activating enzyme processing in plants (SUMOcell)", funding by MICIU/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033, "ERDF A way of making Europe". REQUIREMENTS: Educational requirements: Degree/master in Biochemistry or similar. Skills: Critical thinking and creativity, organization and planning, resilience Strong analytical capacity Ability to build relationships and collaborate with others, internally and externally Writing and oral communication Willingness to learn new experimental/intellectual techniques Motivation and commitment Experience: Previous lab work applying biochemical, molecular biology, and microscopy techniques.
