The Laboratory Technician receives and prepares samples for analysis and laboratory testing, configures instruments, performs tests, and reads, interprets, and issues results in the areas of Biochemistry, Urinalysis, Parasitology, Serology, Hematology, or other required fields.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Process samples and prepare specimens for all departments.
Train in all areas, including Chemistry, Serology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Parasitology according to all SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Responsible for conducting tests such as Chemistry, Coagulation, and Hematology (AU, Immulite, Sismex xtc).
Responsible for conducting tests such as Parasitology: setup and testing of Giardia ELISA, and other miscellaneous tests such as Serology.
Enter and release results, communicate results, and report issues to medical pathologists.
Perform all quality control as required by QA (Quality Assurance) guidelines.
Maintain laboratory instrumentation.
Administrative management of outsourced testing processes.
Enter accessioning in the LIS (Laboratory Information System).
Communicate with clients if necessary.
Participate in all department training programs.
May be requested to participate in company initiatives, special projects, and other assigned tasks.

Education and Experience: Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technician or a related field in Science (Biomedical Technician, Biology, Veterinary Biotechnology) with a minimum of 6 months of experience in clinical laboratory.

Working Conditions: Extensive hours of sitting, using the phone, and computer.

May need to lift, move, and carry up to 20 kg.
Extensive work with a microscope.
Specific vision skills required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Auditory capacity to communicate effectively by phone and in person.
Ability to communicate verbally by phone and in person.
Fluency in English is required.
May be required to work extended hours.
Laboratory environment with potential biological hazards present.
Use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by National Hazard Communication Standards.
