Position The Discovery Chemistry Research & Technologies organization within Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) is seeking a qualified laboratory automation professional to support our automation solutions at Madrid, Spain.
Responsibilities Work closely with scientists to fully understand workflows.
Collaborate with existing team members to design, develop, and implement automation tools, both hardware and software, aimed at optimizing the processes carried out in DCRT laboratories.
Provide quality support to existing processes and instruments: troubleshooting of hardware and software issues and routine maintenance.
Coordination with vendors and engineering companies for preventive maintenance visits and corrective problem solving.
Programming of laboratory instruments: development of scripts for liquid handlers and other automation equipment installed in DCRT laboratories.
Lead the implementation of new automation systems, gather requirements, and develop execution plans.
Coordinate with vendors/engineering companies for implementation, commissioning, and maintenance.
Lookout for new lab automation technology and trends.
Basic Requirements BS in engineering, chemistry or related field.
At least 3 years of experience in automated laboratory systems.
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and in multidisciplinary teams.
Strong collaborative skills for critical interaction with scientists from multiple disciplines.
Fluent in English (C1/advanced).
Additional Skills/Preferences Demonstrated problem solving ability.
Demonstrated experience programming liquid handlers (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton, Beckman, etc.).
Relevant mechanical knowledge regarding laboratory instrumentation.
CAD design tools knowledge (Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works, etc.).
Programming knowledge in C# (preferable) or Python.
Ability to work independently.
Organizational, time management and communication skills.
