The Team: Celonis Labs operates as an independent research and development unit within Celonis, dedicated to innovating business models and investigating new concepts and prototypes that complement the Celonis platform. We are seeking a (Senior) Engineering Manager to build and lead a new team of engineers in our Madrid location.
The Role: As (Senior) Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for leading, developing, and growing a team of engineers. Foster a collaborative culture and enable your team to be generalist engineers and experts for the PoCs and solutions we built around the Celonis platform.
You will work closely with your counterparts in other engineering teams within Celonis Labs or the Celonis platform. You'll be managing the careers of the team members and their performance, and actively fostering successful group dynamics to help the team accomplish their mission. Managers at this level possess the technical judgment and decision-making expected of Staff+ Software Engineers, often making technical contributions that have a direct impact on the team's mission. You ensure that your team has a manageable level of technical complexity and that they are working collaboratively with adjacent teams. You also jointly define goals/OKRs with other stakeholders, contributing to larger strategic efforts. You will work largely independently on defining the scope and impact of the team, and your leadership influence should be evident across multiple groups in addition to their own. When working closely with related teams, you support the team health and objectives of those teams as well as your own.
The work you'll do:
Lead the Celonis Labs Engineering team in Madrid to successfully deliver their mission.
Manage the performance and support the career development of engineers up to the Staff level.
Build and maintain an engineering culture of trust, ownership, and collaboration within your team and adjacent teams.
Take an active part in hiring and growing the team according to business needs.
Contribute technically within the team's scope.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Solution Owners, and other leads on goals and strategies around people, technology, and processes.
Advocate for the (whole) team; provide upward and outward visibility of the team and their work.
The qualifications you need:
3+ years of experience in an Engineering Manager or technical leadership position.
Strong technical knowledge (5+ years of experience in software engineering is expected).
Experience working with Javascript or Typescript, Node.Js, microservices.
Knowledge of cloud providers, Kubernetes, CI/CD is also highly appreciated.
Knowledge around Agile concepts.
