Created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and the University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona is a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence—a seal that was awarded in 2011.
The institute is devoted to conducting research of excellence in biomedicine and to transferring results to clinical practice, thus improving people's quality of life, while simultaneously promoting the training of outstanding researchers, technology transfer, and public communication of science.
Its 28 laboratories and seven core facilities address basic questions in biology and are oriented to diseases such as cancer, metastasis, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and rare conditions.

IRB Barcelona is seeking a Lab Technician with studies/formation in synthetic chemistry to join the group of Dr. Cristina Mayor-Ruiz (Targeted Protein Degradation & Drug Discovery) and Dr. César Serrano (Sarcomas), in the frame of the TRIP-Clinics initiative at IRB Barcelona.
The project will involve the synthesis of heterobifunctional molecules (PROTACs and beyond). This position will be funded through the "Translational Research and Innovation Program Clinics" Program (TRIP CLINICS) with the support of the Department of Health of the 'Generalitat de Catalunya'.
DUTIESSynthesis of protein degraders (PROTACs, molecular glues) and other induced proximity-based molecules.Characterizations of drugs.EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSMust Have - Required Experience: Organic synthesis, NMR, chromatography.Knowledge: background in chemistry, command of the English language.Skills: synthesis, purification and characterization of new compounds.
Team-oriented and highly motivated mindset with capacity to conduct experiments and to record data.
Good communication skills.Desirable Experience: Experience in molecular biology techniques (western blot, cell culture, PCR) is a plus.
Synthesis of biomolecules (e.g.
