Overview: Hines was established in Spain in 1996 and currently has €1.2 bn in Assets under management located in both Madrid and Barcelona.
Our team is currently recruiting for a Financial Controller in the Madrid office.
Responsibilities: As a Financial Controller with Hines, you will coordinate external accountants to perform the day-to-day accounting and oversee the financial reporting of the assets whilst supporting the Chief Financial Officer for Spain in preparing budgets and financial forecasts for projects and Costs Centers.
Assets will comprise Student Housing, BTR, Offices, Warehouses, high street retail, and developments.
Responsibilities include: Work based in Madrid and report to the Chief Financial Officer for Hines Spain.
Work with external accountants ensuring that the finance system links to the property booking systems.
Oversee the external accountants in reporting financial performance.
Review and provide commentary on monthly performance liaising with applicable managers to ensure that all variances are investigated and explained.
Liaise with the Operations team and the local property managers in providing incisive information on business performance, identifying key issues and trends to enable business decisions to be made.
Work with the London / Luxembourg portfolio and finance teams in the development and continuous improvement of management reporting systems, processes, controls, and output, to ensure they are robust and allow for the reporting of this dynamic business experiencing continued expansion.
Work with the Chief Financial Officer for Hines Spain in preparing business plans for projects / financings.
Ensure that all the tax reporting (VAT and Corporation tax) and company reporting requirements are met.
Assist with annual audit of portfolio companies.
Assist with Tax structuring of the projects.
Ad hoc financial analysis and regular forecasting.
Drive the annual budgeting process.
Keep relationships with all main counterparties including administrators and tax advisors, payroll consultants, and management companies in charge of the investment funds owning the buildings.
Reporting and Budgeting of the Spanish Cost Center entities.
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements include: An experienced accountant in the real estate sector.
Experienced in working in an international environment.
Knowledgeable of Spanish GAAP.
Technically strong with an attitude for business process improvement.
Experienced in preparing business plans.
Highly numerate and excellent analytical ability.
Customer-oriented with proven ability to develop close working relationships.
Enthusiastic and motivated team player with the ability to plan and execute tasks unsupervised.
Flexible and able to work to tight deadlines.
Ability to translate complex information for a non-finance audience.
Knowledgeable of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of Yardi.
Able to speak and write in English and Spanish.
