The Product Innovation and Multiphysics Simulation Unit helps companies design and develop the technology of their new products, offering outstanding value propositions with a multidisciplinary vision, addressing the fields of design, simulation, materials, and processes.
As an alternative to fracture mechanic tests in high-pressure hydrogen environments, it is intended to analyze the range of tests that require simpler equipment, such as the ISO11114 disc test, to analyze the susceptibility of materials or combinations of materials (multi-materials) to undergo hydrogen embrittlement and quantify their permeability.
Currently, this test is only used to analyze embrittlement at a given hydrogen pressure, comparing the effect of hydrogen pressure with helium pressure.
The purpose of this study is to extend the applicability of this test to the analysis of permeability to hydrogen gas at high pressure and the behavior of materials under pressure changes (fatigue due to filling and emptying of hydrogen tanks).Functions and ResponsibilitiesDesigning and starting up tools and experiments to analyze hydrogen's effect on materials or multi-materials (embrittlement, permeability).Extracting test data and analyzing test results.Participating in and leading scientific publications.Providing RD support to other colleagues.Conducting research, writing drafts of scientific papers, and delivering a PhD thesis.RequirementsStudies and KnowledgeHolding a bachelor's degree and a master in Mechanical or Materials Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.Soft SkillsThe person who will join the team should be a team player and able to build collaborative relationships.Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.Ability to work autonomously and communicate/document results in a comprehensible and professional way.Self-motivated and passionate about the project with a strong sense of curiosity and experimentation.A certain degree of mobility is expected due to PhD requirements (Conferences and Institutional visits).LanguagesHigh oral and written communication skills in English.High oral and written communication skills in Catalan and/or Spanish are desirable.
