The Global Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Manager is responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the orthodontic and dental industries. This role will focus on identifying, engaging, and cultivating partnerships with influential clinicians, academics, and industry experts who can drive ClearCorrect's brand presence, product advocacy, and thought leadership globally.
As the leader of KOL strategy, the manager will collaborate with Global and Regional Marketing, Clinical Education, and Clinical teams, along with other Straumann Group business units, to ensure a seamless, consistent KOL experience worldwide. This role requires deep industry knowledge, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to align KOL activities with broader business and marketing strategies to drive the Ortho franchise forward.
Key Responsibilities: Global KOL and Speaker Development (70%)Develop and maintain strong relationships with market influencers and thought leaders to position ClearCorrect as a trusted partner in orthodontic solutions.Define and execute a comprehensive global KOL engagement strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and product marketing initiatives.Oversee the selection, contracting, training, and management of international KOLs, ensuring high-quality performance, cost-efficiency, and effective engagement in field activities, dental conferences, and events.Partner with Marketing, Clinical Education, and R&D teams to design and execute programs leveraging KOL expertise for product launches, clinical studies, and global congresses.Collaborate with KOLs to create clinically relevant content, including case studies, webinars, educational materials, and resources for platforms like Online Learning Modules, Study Clubs, and Case Presentation Templates.Organize and manage KOL participation in global conferences, events, and symposiums to promote ClearCorrect's product portfolio and enhance visibility.Identify, recruit, and onboard new KOLs to broaden ClearCorrect's global advocate network.Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate KOL feedback into product development and marketing strategies to improve offerings and market relevance.Develop and implement a global speaker program to nurture future KOLs and enhance ClearCorrect's presence in international markets.Build a diverse base of KOLs, ensuring representation across customer segments, including digital influencers, underrepresented specialties, countries, and women.Develop a comprehensive KOL management framework, including a speaker portal integrated with Straumann Group's LMS, to streamline KOL activities and tracking.Oversee the KOL program budget, ensuring cost-effective planning and execution of KOL initiatives and engagements.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of KOL engagement activities, providing regular insights and recommendations for program optimization.KOL Maintenance & Helpdesk (30%)Maintain a comprehensive speaker database and update profiles, ensuring the accuracy of speaker details such as CVs and portrait photos.Coordinate global speaker activities, allocating the most suitable speakers to international podiums based on event strategies.Manage speaker logistics, including honorarium guidelines, contracts, and travel details, while supporting regional teams in negotiations with individual speakers.Align presentation topics with local and regional teams to ensure consistency and relevance for specific markets.Brief and debrief speakers before and after events to ensure clear expectations and gather feedback for improvement.Qualifications: Bachelor's in Business, Marketing, Communications, Life Sciences, or related field (Master's preferred).5+ years in KOL management, clinical education, marketing, or product management within healthcare, medical devices, or dental industry.Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.Proven experience building and managing global relationships with KOLs or key stakeholders.Knowledge of the orthodontic or dental industry is a plus.Proven experience building and managing global KOL relationships, aligning activities with business objectives.Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage diverse audiences, senior executives, and industry leaders.Strategic thinker with cross-functional collaboration experience (marketing, sales, product, regulatory, clinical).Global mindset with cultural sensitivity and the ability to manage relationships across regions.Strong project management skills (contracts, timelines, budgets) and a data-driven approach using CRM systems.Customer-first mindset, ensuring exceptional KOL support and creating positive experiences.Commercially aware, proactive, and results-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.Willingness to travel internationally up to 20–30%.Charismatic leader with excellent leadership abilities and a podium presence.
