Context And Mission

Key Duties
- To be specialized in numerical weather prediction and extreme weather modelling with a focus on severe convective hazards.
- To contribute to the study of climate processes and their impact on regional and local weather patterns and extremes at different time scales.
- To collaborate with other scientists and software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain software products and services.
- To contribute to the development and implementation of catastrophe risk modelling solutions for the humanitarian and insurance sectors to enhance societal resilience to natural hazards and mitigate climate change impacts.
Requirements Education
- To have a Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, atmospheric physics and dynamics or any other related field.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Proven track record in the study of severe convective systems and related hazards.
- Expert in numerical weather prediction.
- Experience in statistical downscaling for the definition of regional distribution and time evolution of small-scale features given large-scale coarse resolution analyses, forecasts, or simulations.

- Ability to take ownership of and work independently to manage projects through to completion.
- Very strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Detail orientation, thoroughness, reliability, and ability to prioritize are required.
- Proficiency in English is a must.
- Good handling of Spanish is required.
Conditions
- The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department.

- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
