What we Believe
On-demand food delivery is here to stay. With industry growth supercharged by lockdown conditions in the global pandemic, and delivery-only restaurants (also known as virtual restaurants) now entering the mainstream, the future of food is digital. However, there have been some clear problems with virtual restaurants from day one. Pungent smells, queues of delivery drivers waiting outside and often unsociable operating hours have given delivery-only kitchens a bad reputation in local communities. Inside, the kitchens are usually windowless, busy and punishingly hot, with workers "cooped up like battery hens" while earning low pay, and on zero-hour contracts. In that environment, mistakes happen all too easily leading to errors in customer orders and staff injury.

What we're Building
It's time to take virtual restaurants to the next level! At REMY Robotics, we use Virtual Restaurant Robotics (VRR) to solve the problems today's delivery-only kitchens face. We're building the world's first end-to-end ecosystem of virtual restaurants powered by autonomous robot-run kitchens. Our kitchens use software-defined and adaptive robots, computer vision, artificial intelligence and mechatronics that can ensure constant quality, adaptability to any recipe, and operational effectiveness across an endless variety of food production scenarios. Our food is already available in multiple delivery platforms and will be available on our ordering app, a state of the art digital platform and parent brand to our portfolio of virtual restaurant brands.

Who we are
At REMY, we like to do things a bit differently. Unlike traditional software products, our robots exist in the physical world: this means the scope of our products and projects are wide-ranging, from the highly technical to the physical, such as identifying and implementing appropriate food packaging solutions for our customer-facing hot food products. This distinctive model, combined with our existing team of experienced, highly-driven world-class tech, culinary and operational employees, removes the bureaucracy from our business, allowing us to focus on what will make a real impact to REMY's products. At REMY Robotics, we are developing groundbreaking technological solutions alongside a truly competitive customer product to create a better future for the food industry, for consumers and for the planet.

About the role
This role will assist in the development and production of recipes that will be sold in our robotic kitchen. You will help in the conception, preparation and cooking process of our meals. In addition, you will test, measure, and document everything to make it ready to be used by machines, robots, or our partners. You'll spend most of your time in our culinary hub, bouncing to and from other locations as our needs arise and change. The culinary hub is a unique place where the chaotic environment of the kitchen meets the exactitude of academia. In this role, as opposed to the researchers, you'll be the driving force behind the production of actual meals for thousands of people. There will be room to express your own culinary creativity by giving inputs to the food developers but the main focus is on developing and executing large volume meal production. Since our hub closely resembles an actual production kitchen, the role includes dealing with food suppliers and receiving and processing orders. Some heavy lifting may be required and of course, the kitchen needs to be left in good shape at the end of every day.

What success means in this role
You develop new recipes and can replicate them in production runs
You turn our products into the food people love every day
The culinary hub is a sparkling place of beauty that everyone loves to be in
Food waste is eliminated
You have an eye for details
A desire to work on something truly world-changing
Experience as a production cook
A curious mind and the drive to figure stuff out on your own
An interest in technology

A humble attitude and willingness to navigate uncertainty
