This role is perfect for someone with previous project management experience and a desire to learn and develop in the submarine cables sector.
Position Overview The Project Manager Junior is responsible for supporting cross functional teams to deliver undersea telecommunication projects within budget and time limitations in accordance with technical specifications and profit objectives.
The role manages external projects (customized engineered solutions for particular end customer platforms) from bid preparation and contract negotiation through implementation and handover, including engineering, production, installation and testing.
The position requires an understanding of commercial terms and conditions, scopes of work, problem resolution both internally and with the customer, and risk identification and mitigation.
The position duties include: Support to developing budgets and schedules to meet contractual/project requirements.
Assembling cross-functional program teams with members from engineering, procurement, sales, production, finance, marine, materials management and quality.
Serving as the main point of contact for the customer for all negotiations, supporting decision making, scheduling issues, and problem solving throughout the program.
Monitoring and reporting performance against plans to ensure that contractual, cost and schedule objectives are met.
Arranging modifications as required.
The role may lead various aspects of a project such as POW, budget, factory interaction, etc.
The position reports to the Director Project Management.
Essential Job Functions Support a Project Management Director on projects and end clients.
Manage contract including terms and conditions, technical requirements, scope, schedule, and budget.
In addition, manage the customer relationship, project notices and project changes.
Establish and meet project objectives by analyzing contract deliverables and collaborating with project team members.
Perform risk analysis on project schedule, budget, technical requirements and quality.
Develop strategies for addressing customer issues.
Coordinate with peers to develop and implement risk mitigation and issue resolution.
Achieve financial objectives on the project and review/understand variances.
Assist in preparing and reviewing project operational reports for executive team.
Skills/Abilities A BS in engineering, operations or related discipline required.
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in managing cross functional projects or working as a team member on undersea or construction projects required.
Experience matrix-managing a team is preferred.
Experience in negotiations (desirable), managing the P/L of projects and forecasting expenditures, contract management a must.
Understanding of contract language and terms for construction projects.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems within own position, across organizations, and with customers.
Experience in risk identification and mitigation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Articulates thoughts and ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively.
Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
Advanced coordination/planning skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Project) critical.
Knowledge of Undersea Telecommunication Systems is desirable.
Fluent English is required (B2 minimum, C1 desirable).
