Barcelona, Catalonia, ES Description: Importante empresa is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Controller to take charge of improving and supporting the company's Accounting, Tax, and Treasury areas, to support the strong growth of the company internationally. Importante empresa is a fast-growing, Barcelona-based startup, focused on building an all-in-one vacation rental software that enables vacation rental owners to independently manage and market their business online.
As Senior Controller you will play a key role in the Finance Team. You will be responsible for financial operations, compliance with all laws, tax/financial regulations, internal policies, and implementing new financial systems and processes to help scale processes and improve organizational efficiency. In this role, you will work in a diverse, dynamic, and international team, with a wide exposure across organizational levels and departments. The Senior Controller reports directly to the CFO.
Responsibilities:Accounting and TreasuryFull group PL, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow responsibility overseeing all financial and accountancy matters including preparation of month end, quarter end and annual end reports, management accounts and statutory accounts.Supervise and manage all accounting operations, including Billing, Bookkeeping, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Consolidations, Transfer pricing, Revenue recognition, etc.Timely manage the annual audit.Manage all treasury and insurance related activities.Tax and Legal CompliancePreparation of the quarterly and annual tax filings across multiple jurisdictions (Spain, UK and US). Ensure all legal and regulatory documentation is filed and compliant with statutory law and financial regulations.Monitor and execute all legal and regulatory compliance matters and coordinate with external legal advisors (including GDPR).Document processes and policies to strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.Define, implement and improve management control systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data and control of the business.Financial SystemsStreamline and improve accounting and financial systems to scale the company's operations.Support the implementation of an ERP system (e.g., Netsuite).Requirements:Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.At least 3 years experience in a Big 4 Audit company. 5 years of related experience.Native/near-native speaker in Spanish and English.Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (Spanish GAAP, IFRS), US GAAP and UK GAAP desired.Strong analytical and quantitative skills.Expert skills in financial modeling in Excel.Ability to work under pressure with hard-working ethics.Personal and professional integrity of the highest order.Reporting and deadline obsessed.Strong diligence and attention to detail.Benefits:Work-from-home flexibility.25 working days of vacation.Computer and gadgets for your daily work.Monthly meal vouchers.Private health insurance (that includes travel insurance, dental plan, and psychology sessions).Flexible working hours.Referral program with paid compensation.Equipment provided for Home Office setup.Participate in Office and team-building events.Breakfast at the Office: Coffee, fruits, and more!Why you'll love us: You'll be part of a growing, dynamic company with a truly international team.
