Job Description As a carpenter at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge your care and attention to detail will ensure that our guests have a memorable stay in the Canadian Rockies.

Maintaining and repairing all buildings and related material, both interior and exterior to an acceptable standard by The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and related/applicable codes and regulationsEnsuring that all power tools either portable or permanently installed will be in good and safe working conditionEnsuring that all work orders assigned to the department will be done with the least possible delay, especially where guest comfort is concernedTraining and assisting the shift maintenance people to carry out their duties in a safe and efficient mannerAssisting other trades with tasks that need the expertise of a journeymanCommunicating effectively and professionally with both guests and colleaguesAdhering to the hotel's vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehiclesOther related duties as assignedOperate the facility in an environmentally friendly way, recycling all materials when availableEnsuring that vehicles do not idleQualifications Your experience and skills include: Provincial Journeyperson's certificate for Province of Alberta required or third of fourth year in the Apprentice program requiredHigh school and/or technical school education requirements to satisfy Trade SchoolEntrance requirements as per Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training BoardGeneral knowledge or experience of the carpentry tradeMeet the minimum expectations of the Heart of House Perceiver InterviewProficient in Microsoft Windows applications required (Word, Excel & Power Point)Valid Alberta driver's license requiredExcellent communication and organizational skillsStrong interpersonal and problem-solving abilitiesHighly responsible & reliableAbility to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervisionAbility to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all timesYour team and working environment: Fast-paced, upscale, luxury hotelClose proximity to Marmot Basin Ski Resort in winter and world-renowned hiking trails in summerHospitality employees worldwide making this a great place to develop lifelong connectionsStanding: 4-8 hr/daySitting: 4-8 hr/dayWalking: 4-8 hr/dayBending/reaching: 4-8 hr/dayPushing/pulling: 4-8 hr/dayPhysical effort: high – must be able to lift up to 40 lbsEnvironmental Stress: busy atmosphere, working inside and outsideAdditional Information Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
