CNAG – The InstituteThe Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. The CNAG carries out projects in DNA/RNA analysis for the improvement of quality of life in collaboration with the Spanish, European and International Research Community. CNAG researchers participate in major International Genome Initiatives such as the Human Cell Atlas (HCA), the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in many EU-funded projects.CNAG occupies approximately 1,500 m2 of laboratory and office space and operates 4 Illumina instruments (3 NovaSeq6000 and 1 MiSeq) and 2 large Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencers (1 PromethION 24 and 1 GridION) that produce more than 7 Tbases of sequencing data per day. The sequencing operation is supported by an extensive informatics infrastructure: 15 petabyte of data storage, 10,000 computing cores and an internal 56 Gb/s network. The operation is certified ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and accredited ISO 17025 and serves to deliver standardized, high-quality data for research and clinics. CNAG is involved in projects ranging from cancer to rare diseases and immune-mediated diseases. For this, a sophisticated pipeline for data production, data analysis and data management are in place. CNAG also has a highly developed single-cell operation equipped with a 10x Chromium X, 10x Chromium Connect, MissionBio Tapestri for individual cell analyses and for tissue analysis a Nanostring CosMx, 10x Genomics Visium, 10x Genomics Xenium and Stereo-seq.Another specialty of CNAG is the analysis of single molecules.CNAG has a team of 120 highly-talented professionals from 23 countries, including nine research groups and two large technology development/implementation units supported by a flexible and efficient administration.For further information: www.cnag.euThe RoleWe have an opening for a Project Manager within the CNAG Strategy Team to support activities within the EU funded project, EASIGEN-DS, led by CNAG's Director, Ivo Gut. The EASIGEN-DS consortium brings together a network of eleven top European genomics facilities, as well as four partners with expertise in data stewardship, ethical, legal and social implications, socio-economic impact and innovation.The project aims at developing a scientifically excellent research design and a robust and efficient operational framework for a new European distributed Research Infrastructure on Advanced Genomics Technologies.The successful candidate will support the implementation of the EASIGEN-DS project, in a stimulating scientific environment. She/he will report to the CNAG Strategy Coordinator and work closely with CNAG's grant, finance and communication offices, as well as with other members of the EASIGEN-DS Consortium.Main tasks and responsibilitiesCoordinate the administrative management of the project, including financial, ethical, legal, and social aspects. Provide advice to partners on any of these areas. Monitor project financial resources.Manage the project to ensure compliance with EU regulations and deadlines, as well as the implementation of EASIGEN-DS Steering Committee decisions. Ensure timely and high-quality completion of reports, deliverables, and milestones.Foster communication and collaboration among project partners and relevant initiatives. Organize project events, training, meetings, and workshops within the project.Manage project websites and social media for disseminating results to various audiences.Support the development of plans for the scientific and operational cases of the new European distributed Research Infrastructure on Advanced Genomics Technologies.About the team/lab/departmentThe successful candidate will be integrated into the CNAG Strategy Coordination & Project Management Team, led by Dr. Mònica Bayés and composed of three specialists. The team works in a stimulating scientific environment, contributing to international breakthrough research projects in Genomics that will impact people's quality of life. The team has a diversified job content at the interface of science, technology and management, offering continuous growth and support on a professional level.Whom would we like to hire?Master's degree or equivalent.Experience with supporting projects funded by the European Commission.Proven ability to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders at the research and managerial levels.Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills in English.Experience with multiple deadlines, planning skills and ability to prioritize on multiple tasks, services, collaborations with partners and comply with external requirements by funders, organizational rules etc.Experience in project's back-office work: travel booking, payments/reimbursements, meeting and event organization, accounting, etc.Excellent soft skills/people skills.
