MissionThe Infrastructure and Operations Cloud Engineer has a deep understanding of storage, data protection, workplace, networking, security, virtualization, and cloud technologies. They are responsible for providing expert guidance and recommendations to ensure the scalability, availability, and performance of our IT systems. They will act as the single point of contact for the R&D Data Science Department, coordinating IT infrastructure dependent on demand. Moreover, they will set the definition, implementation, and development of technological solutions for computational biologists, according to the Almirall IT landscape, infrastructure, and security requirements.
Functions & ResponsibilitiesThis position will be held in our Sant Feliu de Llobregat office with the possibility to work remotely up to 2 days a week.
Within the Infrastructure and Operations Team, this position will work directly embedded in a cross-functional team, composed mainly of R&D data scientists, R&D Data Engineers, D&AI Architects, and other potential R&D or IT stakeholders. Some of the main functions of the role will include:
Understanding the IT/R&D infrastructure requirements and translating them into viable technical solutions.Designing and implementing cloud solutions in Azure, proofs of concept, pilots, projects, or evolutive requests.Cloud infrastructure management with hands-on capability, including configuration of virtual networks, storage, databases, and compute services.Automating deployments and managing resources using tools such as Azure DevOps and Terraform.Ensuring platform and technical architecture is ready to deploy new data business application process models.Collaborating with other IT teams, such as infrastructure engineers, workplace, applications development, security, and operations, to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.Evaluating new and emerging technologies and providing recommendations for their adoption and integration into the IT infrastructure.Managing relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure the successful delivery of IT infrastructure services and solutions.EducationTo be successful in this role, the IT Cloud Engineer:
Holds a graduate degree in Engineering, IT, or within the Computational Sciences sphere.Experience with stakeholder management will be an advantage.SkillsStrong expertise in Cloud architectures, specifically in Azure.Strong experience designing and implementing Enterprise Data & Analytics Architectures.Broad understanding of current and emerging technology trends and developments.Strong working knowledge of governance policies and practices in architectures focused on self-service & business autonomy.ExperienceThe IT Cloud Engineer we are looking for:
Typically has 3 to 5 years of IT work experience with a broad range of exposure to various technical environments.Ideally has 3 to 5 years' work experience in building technical architectures in Azure.Preferably has proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex, cross-functional, and dynamic environments.ValuesCare: We listen and empathize.
