The Inventory Management Department Manager leads the inventory team to ensure accurate stock levels, efficient inventory movement, and compliance with organizational and industry standards. This role involves coordinating with purchasing, warehouse, and sales teams to maintain inventory accuracy and support business goals.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement strategies for inventory control to ensure stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.Analyze demand forecasts and historical data to plan inventory levels effectively.Oversee regular stock audits to maintain accurate inventory records.Ensure timely restocking of inventory to prevent stockouts or overstocking.Monitor and track inventory turnover rates, shrinkage, and obsolete stock.Manage and mentor inventory staff, ensuring proper training and development.Delegate responsibilities and oversee team performance to achieve department objectives.Implement and manage inventory management systems (e.g., ERP or WMS) to track and update stock levels in real-time.Optimize technology use for inventory analysis and reporting.Work with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.Evaluate supplier performance to maintain effective supply chain operations.Prepare regular inventory reports and present findings to senior management.Identify trends and recommend improvements to inventory processes.Job QualificationsEducational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.Certification in Inventory Management (e.g., CPIM – Certified in Production and Inventory Management) is a plus.Proven experience in inventory management, warehouse management, or a related field (typically 5+ years).Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.Knowledge of supply chain processes and inventory optimization techniques.
