Purpose of the position is to provide direct service in the form of counseling individuals, couples, families, and groups. Will also work in local area Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools 2-3 days per week to provide on-site non-medical clinical counseling to DoDEA students who meet eligibility requirements. Knowledge of the military lifestyle that furnished the employee with an understanding of the specific demands of military lifestyles, such as frequent separations, and high stress working environments that have an extensive impact on individuals and their families. Responsibilities include:Managing assigned cases, consulting with the Region Quality Assurance (QA) personnel or Supervisor where the case is highly complex or presents special issues.Presenting sensitive, at times controversial, information to groups of people in a clear, concise manner.Modifying programs to meet the ever-changing needs of the active duty military community.Recognizing, identifying, and assessing mental disorders per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.Applying various counseling approaches such as behavior modification, client-centered, rational-emotive, family systems, brief solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral therapies.Identifying family violence, conducting risk assessments, and planning for safety.Understanding family violence treatment principles for victims and offenders.Recognizing group dynamics.Applying knowledge in areas related to family systems, abusive behavior patterns, substance abuse, human behavior, human sexuality, attention deficit disorder, and juvenile delinquency.Independently reaching accurate conclusions and providing appropriate solutions.Effectively interviewing and clinically responding to the needs of clients, including assessing suicidality, homicidality, and substance abuse.Maintaining cooperative and professional relationships with law enforcement, Child Protective Services, medical treatment facilities, and senior personnel from commands of offenders and victims.Functioning as a member of interdisciplinary teams and participating in case discussions regarding assessment.Making presentations and exercising strong facilitation skills for individual and group counseling.Documenting initial assessments, treatment plans, case notes, and other FAP, SAIL, and clinical documents in FFSMIS.Developing lesson plans for briefing and classroom presentations.Presenting to large groups in various settings, including installations, community, and aboard navy vessels as appropriate/required.Using a computer from home/teleworking and a variety of software programs to develop multi-media and virtual presentations and to facilitate work assignments.#J-18808-Ljbffr
