Position Overview
CRH Group Innovation is seeking an experienced Project Portfolio Lead to support our delivery of the Innovation and Strategic Partnerships portfolio.
The strategic role is responsible for overseeing and driving the successful execution of innovation initiatives within our organization. This role requires a unique blend of project management expertise, innovation acumen, understanding of the nature of Strategic Partnerships, and core leadership skills to foster a culture of innovation and drive continuous improvement.
There will be as well frequent collaboration with other global functions like Strategy, Ventures, Procurement, Sustainability, Finance, Legal, (etc), and our Operating Companies across the world, to ensure we are delivering on our program of innovation projects to deliver measurable benefit to our customers and the CRH business.
International travel is a requirement of this role.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President, Innovation Portfolio, with soft-line reporting to our Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, our Innovation Project Portfolio Lead will have:
The ability to design and implement the processes, tools, reports, and methods required to delivery on coordination of Innovation and Strategic Partnership projects.The ability to be a collaborative team member, in a complex, multi-geographic environment.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal well with people at all levels, both in-person and remotely.An understanding of the end-to-end project and program management lifecycle, including the processes, tools and best practice in all Project / Program Management areas (e.g. risk and issue management, scope management).A deep understanding of the mechanics of benefits management - articulation, measurement, delivery.Ideally you will understand the key aspects of sustainability relevant to our business and be able to articulate and build risk and benefits into the innovation team activity.The ability to derive insight into the various portfolios, using the data and systems in use, to drive decision making and corrective action.Strong written and verbal communication skills and be capable of understanding, documenting, communicating and presenting technical issues in a non-technical manner to audiences with varying degrees of technical expertise.The ability to structure and deliver complex reports to both senior internal, site-level and external stakeholder, in a way that's meaningful and adds both insight and value.The ability to prepare and delivery a communication plan, to engage our broader stakeholder group.Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with the ability to "join the dots" and see the bigger picture.Comfort in working in ambiguous situations, and able to voice opposing ideas for the betterment of the solutionThe flexibility to travel (in consideration of your own personal circumstances).Excellent attention to detail.Self-motivated, possess excellent organisational and time management skills, and be able to work on own initiative.Experience / Education
You are/have:
Third Level qualification (or equivalent) in Business, Technology, Engineering or Sustainability.Certification in one of PMBoK, Prince2, or regional equivalent, to Practitioner level.Proven experience (5+ years) in project or program management, preferably in the context of heavy inventory innovation or research and development.Strong understanding of innovation and program management frameworks, methodologies, and tools.Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering complex initiatives.Proficiency in program / project management software and tools.
