Injection Molding Engineer

Detalles de la oferta

Ready to collaborate with a dynamic team that's revolutionizing the 3D printing industry? Imagine a role where your expertise directly fuels groundbreaking innovation. If you're drawn to challenges, excel in cost analysis, and have a deep understanding of injection molding processes, then this is more than just a project—it's an opportunity to make a significant impact. At Supernova, we're not just innovators; we're game-changers. We aim to produce end-use parts at scale and cost by developing a complete industrial solution to unlock the power and benefits of Additive Manufacturing. We are 100% customer-centered and believe that the value we bring is in our ability to produce fully functional parts. With the conviction that excellence in science and engineering is the cornerstone of transformative change, we adopt a champion's mindset, take controlled risks, and are constantly on offense to get things done. Your Mission You will play a crucial role in helping us identify business cases where Supernova's additive manufacturing solutions can bring the most value to our clients, particularly in comparison to complex injection molding processes. Your deep expertise in injection molding—including 2K molding—will help us understand where our technologies can replace or complement traditional manufacturing methods. You will also develop a high-level cost estimation tool for mold creation (including multi-component molds) and per-part production costs, aiding our sales team in positioning our solutions effectively. Key Responsibilities Identify Business Opportunities: Analyze and pinpoint scenarios where Supernova's additive manufacturing can outperform traditional injection molding in cost and efficiency. Develop Advanced Cost Estimation Tools: Create a comprehensive tool to estimate mold costs—including multi-shot molds—and per-part production expenses, accounting for variables such as materials, cycle times, and production volumes. Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with our sales and technical teams to provide insights on cost-saving opportunities for clients. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) : Apply DFM principles to enhance product manufacturability, reduce costs, and improve overall production efficiency. About You Experience : Extensive background in injection molding engineering and mold design, with specific experience in 2K (two-shot) molding processes. Technical Expertise : Deep understanding of mold-making techniques, mold materials (aluminum, steel,…) injection materials (thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers), and advanced molding processes (overmolding, insert molding, etc.). Analytical Skills : Strong ability to perform detailed cost analysis, considering factors like mold complexity, tooling costs, material costs, cycle times, and economies of scale. Proven Track Record : Demonstrated ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements in manufacturing processes, particularly in complex molding operations. Software Proficiency : Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, mold flow simulation tools, and cost estimation software. Independent and Collaborative : Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with other teams. Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of conveying complex technical ideas and strategies effectively. Innovative Mindset : Passion for innovation with a drive for continuous improvement and staying abreast of the latest developments in injection molding and additive manufacturing. Why Join Supernova: This company is NOT for everyone. Supernova is for those who crave challenges, thrive in uncertainty, and won't stop until they achieve something extraordinary. Shape the Future: Help revolutionize 3D printing and redefine industrial manufacturing. Take on Big Challenges: If you love solving tough problems and aren't afraid to fail, you'll feel at home here. Never Settle: We move fast, think big, and push boundaries to find solutions that don't yet exist. Learn and Grow: Work with cutting-edge technology and grow alongside a team at the forefront of innovation. Join a Global Team: Collaborate with talented people from diverse backgrounds in Austin (US) and Barcelona (Spain). Make an Impact: Skip the bureaucracy and focus on creating real, meaningful change for the industry. If you're ready to push yourself and be part of something bigger, join us.
