Project Engineer (Release Liners BU – Andoain) Summary of Responsibilities: The Project Engineer improves the company's manufacturing processes through new equipment design, modification and implementing 3rd party solutions.
The successful candidate possesses a wide range of mechanical component and system design experiences in industrial manufacturing or custom automation settings.
Relationships Position reports directly to Director, Operations / Andoain Site Leader Interacts with all functions within ITASA.
External relationships include customers and suppliers, as required.
Position Responsibilities: Recommends modifications to or replacement of equipment to deliver greater up-time, reduced maintenance cost, improved yield, reduced production variability, or improved safety performance.
Together with plant controller, prepares financial justifications and business case packages for capital projects.
Prepares specifications and obtains quotes for equipment purchases, technical services, construction, installations and other purchased products or services needed in the execution of an assigned project.
Manages capital engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning projects including budgets, deadlines, status reports, specifications, procurement, installation, troubleshooting, commissioning, training, and documentation.
Develops cost-effective designs for smaller projects.
Proposes and implements plant layout changes.
Collaborates with the plant and engineering team to ensure satisfactory designs and implementation of projects.
Stays current concerning new research, design methodology and investigates their potential applications.
Travels up to 5% - vendor visits, tradeshows, etc.
Adheres to Mativ guiding principles, policies, and procedures.
Ensures compliance with applicable laws.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field, preferably mechanical engineering.
5+ years of engineering and project management experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with custom machinery design and automation will be highly valued, as well as some experience in civil works /buildings.
Knowledge and Skills: Spanish native language (Euskera will be valued) Skilled as a collaborative team player with strong English language and communications skills Skilled applying fundamentals of engineering, mechanical design principles, and industrial control concepts Knowledge in roll-to-roll manufacturing processes preferred.
Coating manufacturing process knowledge preferred.
Knowledgeable in processes as they relate to design for cost and manufacturability.
Skilled in communicating complex concepts using visual models and everyday explanations.
Desirable experience using 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, NX, etc.
And 2D layout tools such as AutoCAD.
Experienced writing equipment and performance specifications for 3rd party procurement Experienced with systems utilizing PLC's (programmable logic controls).
Experienced leading and managing projects.
Skilled managing and maintaining company interests in vendor negotiations.
Experienced designing and implementing safety standards (OSHA, CE).Effective prioritization and time management skills.
