.Grading: 4, 5 or 6 depending on experience and qualificationsAbout the job/teamThe Light Imaging Facility of the Epigenetics and Neurobiology Unit at EMBL Rome, Italy, is looking for an imaging expert who will participate in the activities of the facility as part of a collaborative international environment. The facility provides access to state-of-the-art imaging instruments, supports training and develops technology in collaboration with research groups and industry.Your roleIf you are passionate about making an impact in life science research, love staring at the scope for hours and debugging code in your spare time, have a service-oriented personality, and are motivated to develop technology for the wider community, we want to hear from you.Your responsibilities include:Carrying out work requests using tissue sample preparation methods (from basic IF/RNA FISH to spatial omics) followed by imaging and data analysisProficiency in the use of high-end microscopes and associated software, including Crest V3 spinning disk confocal microscope, Nikon AX/R scanning confocal microscope, Leica Thunder, Olympus VS200 slide scanner, Alpenglow open top light sheet systemContributing to the training of staff and students, ensuring safe operation and maintenance of our instrumentsDeveloping experimental and/or bioimage analysis protocols to support research projectsImplementing novel sample preparation protocols, analysis pipelines and imaging methodsContributing to the management of the facility, such as newsletters and antibody stocksEngaging in technology development projects (e.G., spatial omics or expansion microscopy) and ensuring their implementation in a facility settingYou have:MSc or PhD in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Bioengineering or related subjectsAdvanced knowledge in light/fluorescence microscopyExperience in tissue or cell sample preparation methods (from basic IF and RNA visualization up to clearing techniques and expansion microscopy)Experience in at least one high-level programming language (e.G
