As a result of this growth, we are looking to recruit and develop a Data Centre Chief Engineer.
The Data Centre Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Chief Engineer maintains relationships with third-party vendors. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, standby diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.
ResponsibilitiesManage all SLA's towards customers ensuring 100% uptime (Temperature, Humidity, Power, PUE/WUE, relations).Responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of planned maintenance that meets all standards and procedures, by leveraging competent contractor/vendor resources with attention to quality.Ensure that the Manager of Operations is fully informed and briefed on all planned and corrective work occurring in the datacenter.Plan and implement customer requested work in a timely manner, ensuring that the customer and Manager of Operations are informed on the status and details of the work.In concert with the Manager of Operations, plan work on 1-line equipment according to Planned Preventive Maintenance Schedule, including roadmap to be approved by Manager of Operations and/or nominated person in control of an electrical installation.Prepare detailed Method of Procedure to be approved by Manager of Operations and/or nominated person in control of an electrical installation.Organize all testing of mission-critical equipment on the site.Ensure that all work being done by contractors/vendors is logged in systems and is in accordance with the approved Method of Procedure.During normal working hours, respond to alarms, critical situations, and emergencies in a proper and timely manner, communicating in a calm and clear manner and in accordance with the emergency response plan.Take initiative to ensure that quality and efficiency standards are raised for all the equipment in the datacenter, including finding ways to deliver cost savings without sacrificing quality.
