Position Purpose: We are seeking a detail-oriented Hydrologist to join our team. This role involves conducting in-depth hydrological studies, technical due diligence for renewable energy projects, and utilizing advanced hydrological modeling tools. The ideal candidate will be skilled in GIS, HECRAS, HECHMS, and Google Earth, and will have a strong ability to acquire and manage hydrological data. Site visits for field verification and collaboration with project teams are essential components of this position.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct Hydrological Studies: Carry out comprehensive hydrological research for a broad spectrum of projects, encompassing infrastructure development, land use planning, environmental conservation initiatives, and water resource management strategies. Analyze watershed characteristics, rainfall patterns, runoff, and flood risks to support project planning and design. Apply hydrological modeling and simulation techniques to assess and predict water-related impacts and benefits for different types of projects. Conduct Technical Due Diligence: Conduct extensive hydrological evaluations of renewable energy projects, encompassing wind, solar, and hydropower initiatives, to ensure optimal site selection and feasibility. Assess prospective project sites by examining hydrological data, water resource availability, and environmental considerations to identify potential risks and opportunities. Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation to support project feasibility studies and regulatory compliance. Utilize Hydrological Modeling Tools: Employ GIS software to analyze spatial data related to water resources, land use, and environmental factors. Use HECRAS (Hydrologic Engineering Center's River Analysis System) for river and floodplain modeling to assess flood risks and hydraulic conditions. Apply HECHMS (Hydrologic Engineering Center's Hydrologic Modeling System) for hydrologic modeling and rainfall-runoff analysis. Integrate Google Earth to visualize and interpret geospatial data and support project assessments. Data Acquisition and Management: Collect and analyze hydrological data from government agencies, private organizations, and other relevant sources. Maintain an organized database of hydrological data and ensure its accuracy and relevance for ongoing and future projects. Collaborate with stakeholders to acquire necessary data and ensure proper data sharing and management practices. Site Visits and Verification: Conduct site visits to verify field conditions, validate data, and assess hydrological factors directly at project locations. Observe and document site-specific conditions that may impact hydrological analyses and project outcomes. Ensure on-site observations are accurately integrated into project assessments and reports. Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and environmental scientists to ensure hydrological considerations are integrated into project designs. Provide technical support and expertise throughout the project lifecycle to address hydrological concerns and optimize project outcomes. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, or any related field. Skills: Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS). Advanced knowledge of HECRAS and HECHMS. Experience with Google Earth for geospatial analysis. Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred but not required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Willingness to conduct site visits and fieldwork as needed.
