The pay increases when there is an increase announced across Spain.Job Description: We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic High School English Language Arts Teacher to join our team at Rafa Nadal International, which is managed by The Academy International School, and is based in Manacor on the beautiful island of Mallorca here in Spain.
RNS can be found within the grounds of the Rafa Nadal Academy. RNS is a vibrant Anglo-American co-educational school focused on bringing out the best of each other, with the school's philosophy based on the term "education" in the widest possible sense. We provide a high-quality Anglo-American international education for boys and girls from across the world aged 3 to 18 years. The British Primary School, Nursery through to Year 6, and American middle and high school, Grade 6 through to Grade 12. All classes are delivered in English by experienced teachers. Role and Responsibilities: The duties of the teacher may include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Instruction: Providing instruction to students in grades 6 to 12, as requestedAbility to perform essential functions of the positionWillingly assisting the instructional process in its many formsSupporting school-wide instructional initiativesGathering student data through observation, dialogue, testing tools, etc., and designing strategies to meet student needsRemaining current with American standards and other instructional requirementsSupporting student learning through thoughtful planning and preparation and sound classroom management practicesDriving Personal Professional DevelopmentStaying informed on the latest trends in relevant education and instructionStrong IT skills are necessary (including technology in the classroom, and learning platforms such as Google Classroom).Assessment: Assessing student progressMaintaining updated grade books, tracking the data, drafting report cardsAssisting in conducting school-wide benchmark assessments (e.g. PSAT, etc) when neededOther Duties: Effectively communicating with school administrators, teachers, student service personnel, and parents regarding student performance and plans for improvementParticipating in school meetings as neededSupporting students and administration in Positive Behaviour Intervention and Supporting philosophyAssisting students in adopting a behavior conducive to success in the classroom settingParticipating in faculty meetings and professional learning communities' meetingsAssisting in orientation and open classes as neededModelling non-discriminatory practices in all activitiesPerforming other job-related functions as may be assignedServing as Team Leader if requestedSetting professional standards (dress, punctuality, etc.)Community-Based Learning InitiativesAssisting in the delivery of a curriculum that utilizes community resources to enrich the learning experiences of studentsPlease note that job descriptions are created to provide a framework of responsibilities and are not inclusive of all duties that may be required. Staff and faculty embody an "all hands on deck" mentality and do whatever it takes to get the job done regardless of title.
Our School Day: We run two shifts. Teachers start at 8:00 and finish at 16:00 or start at 10:00 and finish at 18:00. Teachers are expected to attend the weekly staff meeting (timetable permitting).
