Role Overview:PIC Spain, a Genus company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Health Assurance Veterinarian to join our team and support our Health Assurance Manager in Spain. The Health Assurance Veterinarian has primary accountability for implementing and communicating PIC's comprehensive Health Assurance (HA) program to maintain a reliable supply of superior healthy genetics to customers in Southern Europe. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a proven track record in swine health management, disease surveillance, and biosecurity risk management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Implement the Health Assurance Program that protects PIC supply chain and our customers' herds:Monitor the health and surveillance program for contract multiplication flows.Provide health status information concerning product sources to customers in a timely manner.Perform risk assessments of the PIC multiplication flows and propose risk mitigation strategies.Actively participate in health-related data collection, organization, and analysis.Complete welfare assessments and implement PIC's welfare policy in owned and contract multiplication.Assist in specific disease elimination projects in contracted and customers' farms.Support applied research projects to develop and/or validate novel health solutions.Represent PIC/Genus and provide science-based information to the scientific community through national and international professional venues.Participate in PIC-sponsored and industry-driven events to facilitate further understanding of health assurance and services as points of difference within the PIC Value Proposition.Interface with PIC Genetic team to facilitate optimal gene transfer between PIC herds while managing health risks, including imports/exports.Establish effective professional relationships with customers and key production personnel to enable PIC account objectives and product performance.Collaborate with Technical Services and customers to maximize the genetic potential of PIC products within customers' herds.Gain exposure to customers' herds to generate specific best-practice recommendations aiming to mitigate risk of disease introduction-dissemination and to improve herd health.Spend field time with experienced PIC veterinarians, access PIC on-boarding materials and programs, study literature, and attend scientific/industry meetings for ongoing development.Maintain confidentiality of all Genus PIC products and program proprietary knowledge as well as customer-specific information.Requirements:Basic Qualifications (required): Veterinary Medicine Degree and current license to practice within Spain.Minimum 5 years' experience in swine medicine (diagnostics and epidemiology) in the swine industry and modern pork production.Strong verbal and written English skills.Authorized to work in Spain without sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a Matrix Management organization.Proven track record in swine health management, disease surveillance, and biosecurity risk management.Strong communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external key stakeholders at all levels.Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.Experience supporting health and production data analysis and reporting with a keen attention to detail.
