The Internal Strategy Area is part of the research support structure at VHIR and covers the following broad topics:The coordination of the scientific structure.The coordination and support of the Research Community implementing strategies for the attraction/retention and follow-up of investigators within the Research Groups.The strategies for research assessment.The implementation of the RRI principles and related initiatives.The Teaching Unit.The coordination of the Scientific Governance.The technical secretariat.The design, collection harmonisation and final exploitation of the institutional activity indicators and the handling to our reference agencies.Within the directorate falls also the coordination of the pre-clinical core facilities.We are seeking a person to lead a new unit in the Internal Strategy Area to mainly coordinate the three first highlighted lines.
The role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight in a collaborative environment and is central to ensuring the achievement of the unit's objectives by coordinating a multidisciplinary team and optimising processes.Education and Qualifications:Doctoral Degree in Biosciences (Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Genetics, etc.
)Excellent written and oral communication in Catalan, Spanish, and English.Experience and Knowledge:Required:More than 5 years expertise in bioscience research management.More than 5 years of proven experience in team leadership and mentoring in a research environment.Demonstrated ability to conceptualise and execute strategic projects and institutional collaborations.Experience working with Research Teams.Desired:In-depth knowledge of research activities undertaken by VHIR researchers.Ability to enhance the scientific strategy of an institution, focusing on measurable impact.Familiarity with Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) strategies and their integration into organisational goals.Knowledge of new trends in research evaluation and open science and with the ability to enhance VHIR's scientific strategy based on impact.Knowledge of the Catalan, Spanish, and European Union Health and Research Ecosystem and agencies.Leadership, empathy, team building, proximity.Person with decision-making capacity and coordination with the different agents of the entity.Dynamic person with good communication and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.High motivation for improvement and continuous learning.Main Responsibilities and Duties:Strategic planning: Develop and implement the unit's vision and objectives in alignment with VHIR's overall strategy.
Support institutional structural and scientific initiatives and develop strategic partnerships.Team management: Coordinate a multidisciplinary team, fostering communication, cohesion, and professional growth to lead the team towards efficiency, collaboration, and excellence.
Provide expert leadership and mentorship to support the professional development of team members.Scientific structure coordination: Organise and provide support to the scientific structure of the institute, mapping and managing the research portfolio and fostering synergies between research groups.
Impulse strategic scientific priorities for the institution, identifying existing knowledge and promoting growth in these areas.Scientific development coordination: Lead the institutional strategy to attract and retain scientific talent, building an excellent scientific community.
Implement transparent and inclusive research assessment values at the institution.
Promote excellence, including new research values of open science and transparent and inclusive research assessment practices.Institutional representation: Represent the unit in interactions with other units, campus stakeholders, and external institutions.Quality and harmonisation: Ensure that the unit's activities meet established standards and provide added value to the Area and VHIR.
Standardise and streamline processes across the unit for better consistency.Among expected achievements, the candidate will have to improve research efficiency and productivity and consolidate scientific leadership of the VHIR.Labour Conditions:Full-time position: 40/week.Starting date: immediate.Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills.
Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
