Position Overview: The Head of Procurement is responsible for managing the direct materials procurement category with an annual spend of approximately $40 million.
This role is crucial in delivering annual operating plan (AOP) target savings for the Martin Site and aligning procurement strategies with regional and global objectives.
The position involves strategic and operational procurement execution, supplier relationship management, and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities: Category Management: Oversee direct materials procurement category.
Develop and execute category strategies in line with regional and global procurement goals.
Utilize competitive bidding, negotiation, RFx methodologies, and market data analysis.
Develop and implement risk management strategies for the procurement process.
Analyze procurement data and generate reports to inform decision-making and strategy development.
Cost Savings and Efficiency: Drive AOP target savings and impact profit and loss (PL).
Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation (P2P).
Set action plans for cost savings, dual sourcing, and spend consolidation.
Supplier Management: Act as a key account manager for selected suppliers.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive procurement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
Influence and challenge stakeholders to identify new opportunities.
Market Insights and Strategy: Apply market insights to develop subcategory strategies.
Routinely benchmark industry practices and develop deep market understanding.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree required Experience: 7 years in procurement roles such as Head of Plant Procurement, Category Manager, or similar positions.
Strong experience in procurement, preferably in chemicals.
Self-motivated with a focus on process excellence and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency in English (Spanish desirable).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Project management experience.
Ability to understand and integrate big-picture strategies.
