The Laboratory Coordination Unit ensures the proper functioning and maintenance of the laboratories at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).
Provides support to the research staff by managing the common areas, cleaning, and sterilizing laboratory materials. It supplies personal protective equipment (PPE) for the researchers. It manages the disposal of waste generated in the VHIR laboratories. It also handles the technical support for the electromedical equipment in the common areas and research groups. Additionally, it ensures the proper functioning of the common areas, the correct use of equipment, and the adherence to good practices across the various research spaces.
Education and qualifications: Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Sciences
- Specific/additional training in Biosafety
- Fluency in Catalan, Spanish, English
Desired:
- Specific/additional training in Radioactivity
Experience and knowledge: Required:
- At least 5 years of experience working in laboratory management in research centers or clinical laboratories.
- Knowledge of culture rooms, radioactivity laboratories, and laboratory waste management.
- Ability to manage the organization and coordination of different activities conducted in laboratories involving the participation of various research groups in shared spaces.
Main responsibilities and duties: Laboratory support and maintenance:
- Provide technical support to researchers for lab use, including equipment, common areas, and material cleaning.
- Manage maintenance and cleaning of facilities to meet quality standards.
- Supervise and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and compliance with safety regulations. Review risk communications and implement corrective safety measures in labs.
- Collaborate with the Radiology Protection Service for the radioactivity laboratory, supervising facilities and user practices.
Supplier and equipment management:
- Identify, negotiate, and manage suppliers for laboratory materials, biological safety cabinets, and medical equipment.
Facility and space oversight:
- Manage services across all buildings and spaces.
- Authorise access to restricted lab areas and shared spaces.
- Provide support for relocations and external visits.
Incident response:
- Provide support for relocations and external visits.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediate.
- Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
- Contract: Permanent.
