Head of International Projects Unit
Competitive Projects Directorate
Under the leadership of the Competitive Projects Directorate, the International Projects Unit will support the scientific
community at Vall d'Hebron throughout the full lifecycle of international competitive projects. The Unit encourages and
supports researchers in the pursuit of international competitive funding for research, detecting opportunities and
contributing to the development of quality proposals. Once the desired funding is achieved, the Unit also provides
guidance on regulations compliance and post-award management for the best research outcomes.
The overarching aim of the Unit is to contribute to the leadership of HUVH and VHIR in biomedical research, positioning
Vall d'Hebron in the European and International Research Agenda.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Education and qualifications :
**Required:
University degree, in Health Sciences preferred
Specific training in competitive research projects
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Fluency in English (business level)
Good command of Catalan and/or Spanish is also important.
A PhD will be highly valued.
- Project Management training.
**Experience and knowledge:
Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in management of research international projects funded by the
European Commission and others national and international calls.Demonstrable excellent understanding of the international research funding programmes.
Experience in team management.Experience in the healthcare sector will be valued.

**Main responsibilities and duties:
Plan the strategy of the International Projects Unit and define its objectives, under the supervision and
coordination of the Competitive Projects DirectorPromote and design Operation and Evaluation Plans for the achievement of the Unit's goals.Plan the activities of the Unit and distribute tasks among team members and collaborators.Analyze the volume and nature of work to establish the appropriate profiles of collaborators and coordinate
interdependence relationships among tasks.Lead the refinement of internal processes to establish standard work procedures, promote the
interdependencies with other units, especially the National Projects Unit, Legal Unit, Finance and Accounting,
Human Resources, Innovation Unit, and others.Promote the creation and/or improvement of common work tools.Participate and represent the unit and the institution in conferences and other external events, locally and
