TRU is a once-in-a-generation rail upgrade programme to deliver faster, longer, more frequent, and more reliable rail services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds. By connecting the major cities of the North with an enhanced, more reliable service, it has the potential to impact the lives of thousands of passengers and support economic growth across the whole of the north of England. Amey, in partnership with Arup, BAM and Network Rail is upgrading the route between Manchester and Leeds, which includes civils, track, railway systems and electrification.The opportunity to use modern digital signalling and train control also means we can lay the foundation for the Digital Railway. Working with Amey on TRU is essential for anyone serious about a career in rail. You will be pioneering new techniques, using the latest technology, and helping us set new standards for collaborative working.The role : You will report directly into the Amey Account Director and have an Alliance embedded role. Within the Alliance, you will be responsible for all commercial activity for the Project, including procurement and estimating. From an Amey perspective, you will be a senior Amey representative within the Alliance and be responsible for ensuring all Amey governance, process and procedures as set by the Amey Account Director are in place and managed. You will have reporting lines into Amey and the Alliance as follows: Amey Rail Account Director, Alliance Project Director.Key responsibilities :You will be expected to undertake duties / tasks aligned to those typical of a Project Commercial Lead.Performing the Works in accordance with the Alliance Charter. Ensure the whole project team, and particularly the project commercial team, understand the Alliance Charter and perform the Works in accordance with the Alliance Charter.Undertakes the Project Commercial Lead role on the Project Director's 'AMT'.Develop and deploy a robust commercial strategy and programme for applicable projects.Responsible for the commercial management of all activity on projects within Portfolio, which includes procurement and estimating.Responsible for resolution of commercial issues on projects, escalating where necessary.Ensure compliance with Alliance Governance Plan, Process and Procedures, particularly those relevant to 'people processes', commercial, procurement and project controls.Responsible for clear and accurate commercial reporting within projects portfolio.Analysing commercial data to identify opportunities, variances, issues, trends.Deploy appropriate plans to maximise opportunities and mitigate threats and issues.Manage the deployment of commercial resources, working with functional leads where appropriate (e.G. procurement and estimating)
