As part of that strategy, we are looking for a Head, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Platforms in Data Digital & IT (DD&IT) to oversee the organization's GenAI practice and lead the development, scaling, and operations of innovative, re-usable GenAI capabilities across business functions.
This position plays a key role in supporting business-facing DD&IT teams in building and deploying GenAI solutions on fit-for-purpose technologies.
About the RoleMajor accountabilities: Define GenAI technology vision & strategy aligned with overall DD&IT and business strategy, work with DD&IT GenAI leads in business-facing functions to secure sponsorship and develop a joint enterprise roadmap.Pro-actively evaluate, implement and scale GenAI Platforms and Novartis-specific accelerators to integrate with existing systems efficiently.Adopt product mindset and agile methodologies to support Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and Minimal Viable Products (MVPs) for new GenAI use cases, emerging GenAI models, and frameworks.Ensure clear communication and stakeholder engagement to familiarize the organization with GenAI platforms and the availability of technical capabilities, develop required training materials.Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among different teams and departments working with GenAI platforms, ensuring consistency and alignment across the organization.Establish clear objectives and drive governance processes within DD&IT for managing priorities and risks, with a strategic foresight and cross-functional mindset.Stay informed on industry GenAI trends, engage with communities of practice, and understand opportunities for technology partnerships in close collaboration with DD&IT Architecture leads.Establish a framework for measuring key performance indicators (KPIs) for GenAI platforms, models, and implementations.Align with enterprise data management strategy and principles, develop optimized data collection and preparation processes, ensure data quality for GenAI solutions.Operationalize GenAI platform support and drive continuous improvement, work with DD&IT Infrastructure and End User Services function to fulfill performance and monitoring needs.Ensure compliance with Novartis AI policies and frameworks, implement robust data protection measures, support security audits and vulnerability assessments, jointly with the DD&IT Security & Compliance function.Contribute to change management strategies for GenAI adoption, document successful implementations and lessons learned, create reusable components and templates, establish processes for scaling solutions across the organization.EDUCATION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED University degree or equivalent.
Master's degree desirable.10+ years of experience in managing technology platforms and driving operational excellence.Deep experience and knowledge of GenAI and/or AI in general.Knowledgeable of existing, upcoming GenAI platforms and solutions in the market.Familiarity with architecting and developing complex GenAI solutions including experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS or Microsoft Azure.Experience with NLP, FMs, LLMs, SLMs, and other GenAI models.Understanding of how to deploy LLMs and use of APIs to build solutions.Familiarity with the model development lifecycle, such as ML/LLM Ops is a plus.Software Development knowledge to be able to guide the team is a plus.Experience in Pharma regulatory & compliance processes is desirable.Strong technology delivery, program management skillset is required.Proven communication skills in a global matrix organization with excellent presentation skills in abstracting problem statements and preparing executive messaging.Experience in leading cross-functional IT teams and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders fostering a strong collaboration mindset.Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Novartis is committed to building an outstanding, inclusive work environment and diverse teams representative of the patients and communities we serve.
