.Your mission The Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute (IJC) is a nonprofit research institute based in Barcelona and dedicated to advancing our understanding of leukemia and related disorders, in partnership with the University of Barcelona and the University Autònoma of Barcelona.The Cancer Immunogenomics group, headed by Dr. Eduard Porta, works at the interface of artificial intelligence, molecular biology, and medical oncology, and we bring together experts from all three fields.We use computational approaches to study the interaction between genetic variants in cancer genomes and multiple aspects of cancer, ranging from the immune response against tumors to the susceptibility of cancer cells to different treatments.We have been at the forefront of the discovery of cancer driver genes ( Nature Methods, 2017; Cell, 2018), their interactions with other molecular layers ( Cell, 2018; Cell, 2023), understanding the relationship between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment ( Immunity, 2018; Immunity, 2021; Nature, 2023).We are currently looking for a Predoctoral Researcher to provide scientific support to our group led by Dr. Porta .We are looking for a PhD student to analyse single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data from tumor samples.The project will be done in collaboration with several research groups who provide us with human tumor samples with various clinical annotations.The project requires strong computational skills as well as a good background in biology.Excellent communication skills, creative thinking and fluent English are a prerequisite.Your profile General skills A committed scientist with a competitive scientific record and experience in biology, biomedicine, or related disciplines.A high level of motivation and interest in biomedical research.Good communication skills.Fluent in English Technical skills MSc in Bioinformatics, Omics Data Analysis, or similar Excellent level of oral and written English Bioinformatics skills (R, Bioconductor, etc.)Previous experience analyzing spatial transcriptomics data is very strongly preferred Why us?Temporary predoctoral researcher contract Full-time contract.Be part of a young, collaborative, and international work environment with cutting-edge technologies and interdisciplinary teams of scientists, including experts in medicine, immunology, genomics, and bioinformatics.Core facilities of the IJC include flow cytometry, genomics, proteomics, and the single-cell unit.Exciting and innovative research projects in the fields of epigenetics, lymphocyte biology, and associated malignancies.The stimulating environment of the Barcelona metropolitan area.Deadline Please submit your application by July 31st 2024
