Medical Director, GMA Neurology, International Location : Barcelona, Spain Reports To : Medical Director, Neurology, International This is what you will do The Medical Affairs Director will contribute to strategic planning, tactical execution, and leadership in the Alexion Neurology Therapeutic Area.
Responsible for providing strong scientific and medical perspective with an in-depth understanding of the Neurology medical landscape.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the short and long-term strategy for both pipeline and inline assets, aligning with overall Alexion organizational strategy and ensuring effective and meaningful cross-functional collaboration.
Evolve the Alexion Global Medical Affairs mission to maximize patient outcomes by setting and continuously advancing the evidence-based medical standard of care.
The Medical Director, Neurology, International reports into the Senior Medical Director, Global Medical Neurology, International, is a member of Global Medical Affairs - TA Extended Leadership Team, and works cross-functionally in close collaboration with Alexion's Teams, namely: Global Medical Communication, HEOR, Medical Operations, Country Medical, Clinical Development, Shared Markets Commercial, Patient Experience & Insights, Pharmacovigilance, Epidemiology, Clinical Operations and Regulatory Affairs.
You will be responsible for Contributing to the development of the TA strategic plan, especially pertaining to the Shared Markets.
Developing, implementing, and executing on the TA Medical Tactical Plan for Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Neurology activities in the Shared Markets.
Providing medical leadership, insights and strategy to the GMA Neurology teams across all the Shared Markets.
Implementing the annual budget plan for tactics specific to the Shared Market regions.
Providing medical strategic recommendations for in-line life cycle management (LCM) across the Shared Markets.
Providing clear strategic guidance to scientific communication, internal medical training and external medical education.
Planning, designing and contributing/management of GMA independent cross-border medical education events.
Strengthening, developing, and maintaining strong relationship with Key Medical Experts (KMEs).
Engaging, educating, and creating advocacy among HCPs, KMEs, PAOs, decision makers at key institutions representing Alexion Medical Affairs with scientific activities.
Maintaining a high knowledge of product, disease state, and applicable global regulatory expertise in order to provide the highest input for understanding current and future positioning aims of the brand.
Proactively identifying needs for educational materials and discussing with brand team.
Cross functional work Develop and maintain highly effective cross-functional collaboration with other departments (e.g.
clinical, commercial, market access, marketing, legal).
Support cross-functional teams to ensure patient-focused activities, including timely responses to specific internal and external requests to discuss specific situations.
Being part of launch readiness team, provide insights and feedback from external stakeholders to build a meaningful medical launch plan.
Provide appropriate and timely medical support to clinical operations, commercial, market access team among other teams, in line with local standards and regulations and internal policies.
Provide insights into HEOR and comparative effectiveness research and budget impact models to support formulary and coverage decisions.
You will need to have Must have MD, PhD or Pharm D level degree or equivalent.
5-10 years' experience in Medical Affairs Functions.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Strong leadership skills and ability to master a cross-functional collaboration environment.
Team player with ability to lead and motivate a team, both internally and remotely.
Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrates track record and ability to drive results as an effective team member and project leader.
Proven ability to manage budget and resources.
Strong medical and business acumen.
Ability to build partnership between HQ and affiliates.
Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions.
Excellent problem solving, organizational and negotiating skills.
Must demonstrate an energy and enthusiasm which brings a positive approach to all challenges.
