As a Regional Safety Engineer, you will lead the Health and Safety function of your assigned area. You will be responsible for advancing safety culture and improving the health and safety of our data centers, by protecting our employees through safety incident prevention, investigation, and mitigation. Each day you will work with our data center community, the people who make the cloud go. They are working with electrical switching equipment, large scale air handling and mechanical systems, and critical IT gear. You will work closely with experts in security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources to further the global health safety program.The Regional Safety Engineer must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. This individual must instruct and train company personnel on safety policies, assisting the teams in incorporating our safety standards at their respective site(s). This role will report to the Regional Safety Manager and be responsible for continuing to enhance the safety of operations. Additionally, you will work closely with construction builds. This position may require some domestic and international travel.Responsibilities:Daily interactions with our customers delivering health and safety leadership and guidance.Implement health and safety standards, policies and practices including, but not limited to; safety management systems, training, risk assessments, and applicable safety regulations.Assist with industrial hygiene and ergonomics assessments.Conduct health and safety audits of data centers and active construction sites to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements as well as life safety requirements.Ensure compliance and implementation of global health and safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.Develop health and safety plans for on-site emergencies, business continuity, and other unique events.Maintain adequate safety record keeping and data integrity.Perform data trend analysis to present to cluster leadership to support business and safety initiatives.Consult and partner with compliance and legal teams for interpretations and guidance.Identify risks and partner with Operations to permanently mitigate them via the hierarchy of controls.Collaborate with other groups within Amazon (Facilities Managers, Human Resources, Hardware Operations, etc.) and outside vendors (General Contractors, Sub-contractors, Emergency Services, Underwriters, etc.) as they relate to operations.Ensure compliance and enforcement of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.Develop safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events and other unique safety situations to assure proper evacuation procedures are followed.Perform data analysis to ensure safety record keeping and data integrity.Develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.Adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy and deadlines.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSMinimum four year college degree in a safety and health or related field.5 or more years of field safety experience in construction, manufacturing, or similar industry.2 or more years of experience designing, revising and implementing safety processes and procedural documentation.Fluent in English and Portuguese.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization.Experience managing technical groups.CREA preferred.Working knowledge of NR10 and electrical background preferred.Knowledge of local safety and health regulatory laws as well as familiarization with US OSHA and practices of investigations and workplace safety.High attention to detail concerning hazard awareness.Must be self directing and internally driven to insist on the highest standards.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfortably interfacing with site leaders.High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and basic aptitude for learning additional software tools as needed.Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.*Please upload your resume in EnglishAmazon is an Equal Opportunity-Affirmative Action Employer – Minority / Female / Disability / Veteran / Gender Identity / Sexual Orientation.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
