By choosing a career with us, you can expect a challenging and fulfilling role surrounded by people who are passionate and have brilliant ideas about sustainable technology, innovation and making the world a better place.What You'll do (the role)SummaryIn a new role in the Government Affairs team, you will be supporting the development of the government affairs function in Portugal and Spain to realize Lightsource bp as a local leader within the sector and advance our company goals and ambitions.Working in close partnership with the Senior Manager for Government Affairs for Southern Europe, will support the development of the government affairs strategy in Portugal and Spain, by monitoring energy policy evolutions, legislative developments, analysing their relevance to business and delivering an effective stakeholders' strategy, all in the service of advancing our business activities in Portugal and Spain. Is expected to support engagement with key stakeholders at local, regional and national level building and maintain external relationships and also internal relationships with local and central teams. We look for proactive candidates with the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.Duties and responsibilitiesAs Government Affairs Advisor Portugal and Spain, you will:Actively track and analyse relevant legislation and policy proposals that impact the LSbp business, with a particular focus on solar and storage.Work with key internal stakeholders to support the development of policy positions and leading policy and regulatory changes and implementation to support Lightsource bp's mission.Support the development and implementation of advocacy strategies, in coordination with local needs and pre-agreed positions, including securing meetings and keeping regular interaction with public and private stakeholders.Support the business team in developing new business opportunities in the region, including ensuring excellent connections between Lightsource, grid operators and public institutions.Build Lightsource bp's reputation as a sector leader and raise the profile of local teams by creating engaging content. Prepare executive briefing documents for both internal and external audiences.Leverage on and support Lightsource bp participation in trade associations and building coalitions within the energy and renewable sectors. Manage the work of external resources such as consultants or agencies.Who we're looking forKnowledgeKnowledge and understanding of the renewables and storage sector both from a policy and business perspective.Committed to working in a fast-paced environment with geographically diverse, global colleagues.Ability to adapt and work in a different cultural environment, both operational and office based.Demonstrated skills working with leadership; ability to interface with all levels of the organization required.QualificationsUniversity degree in related disciplines including but not limited to economics/law/engineering/political studies/international relations, etc.Full professional proficiency in Portuguese, Spanish and English.ExperiencePrevious experience in renewables/solar energy in energy policy, consultancy, government affairs positions, strategic communication, or public authorities.Proven track record of getting regulatory changes and implementation, successful interactions with policymakers, including ability to define, strategize, communicate, and deliver against business objectives.Experience in the public policy making process and in developing partnerships with trade associations and other industry partners to push an agenda.Why you'll make a great member of the teamA team player and collaborator, being able to translate global and regional goals and ambitions into effective localized communication and advocacy strategies.Excellent reporting, writing and presentation skills, and strong attention to detail.
