This role involves managing and optimizing secondary assembly and packaging processes across sites, for oral and parenteral products, particularly for cartridges and pre-filled syringes (PFS).Key Responsibilities:Packaging Development Optimization:Lead and update assembly and secondary packaging solutions for oral and ophthalmic units, vials, ampoules, cartridges, pre-filled syringes (PFS), and bundling processes.Continuously assess current packaging designs and processes to identify areas for improvement and innovation.Actively participate in the performance qualification activities, shipping verification, and verification features related to new and changed packaging materials.Maintain an overview of technological improvements in pharmaceutical packaging internally within Siegfried, as well as in the pharmaceutical industry, including material suppliers.Engineering Technical Challenges:Develop new and challenge existing packaging systems with innovative engineering solutions.Contribute to the standardization of secondary packaging materials and processes across sites, defining new standards and supporting sites in their implementation.Lead and coordinate teams throughout the site for cross-functional root cause analysis and problem-solving on technical quality issues, e.g., recurring deviations, complaints, and performing investigations for complex issues while contacting suppliers.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging designs meet regulatory, quality, and safety standards, patient usability, line efficiency, and cost.Operational Efficiency:Operationalize packaging processes by managing workflow, staffing, and resources.Optimize the number of personnel involved and streamline the flow of packaging operations to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.Propose changes to tooling/equipment, in alignment with changes and/or improvements to secondary packaging materials and processing parameters.Project Management Customer Interaction:Support customers in the regulatory documents related to secondary packaging materials when requested.Support cost calculations related to packaging projects, providing detailed analysis and recommendations.Engage with customers to understand their needs and ensure packaging solutions align with their expectations and requirements.Your profileExperience Expertise:Provide hands-on leadership and mentoring to the packaging team, ensuring adherence to best practices and company standards.Foster knowledge transfer in secondary packaging among sites.Be a recognized scientific expert internally and externally by reporting and presenting scientific/technical work at internal/external meetings/conferences.Leverage at least 8 years of hands-on experience in secondary packaging to drive process improvements and team development.Background/Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a related field.Minimum of 8 years of experience in secondary packaging, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industries.Languages: highly proficient in both spoken and written English and local language.
Knowledge of German is highly valuable.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to challenge existing methods for continuous improvement.Good knowledge of equipment suppliers and packaging material suppliers.Experience with cost calculation, budgeting, and customer interaction.Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.Ability to handle multiple projects at one time.Willingness to travel around 10% of the time.Working at SiegfriedSiegfried's work environment is dynamic and international.
