.DescriptionWithin the Hitachi Energy Transformers business unit we are looking for a Global R&D Materials Engineer to join us within one of our Technology Centers. You will support our global teams in assuring the materials and chemicals used in our products and manufacturing processes are of the highest environmental, health and safety standards and in compliance with the evolving regulatory ecosystem. You will support our global teams in translating the product material compliance updates into R&D actions.If you are passionate about materials science, compliance, and driving innovation, we welcome ap plications to be a part of our dynamic team.Your responsibilitiesStrategically evaluate, and select materials and chemicals in our products and manufacturing processes that comply with relevant legislations, and industry standards as it pertains to the global transformers portfolioCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define material requirements and specifications for characterizing alternative materials and chemicals in our processes and productsSupport the supply chain and quality department for supplier and internal audits as material and processing expertConduct technology scouting to understand industry and technology trends including the latest developments in materials scienceDesign and execute experiments to characterize and qualify new materials, ensuring they meet performance, durability, and safety requirementsDevelop detailed reports containing the results of materials testingconsidering a variety of characterization methodologies (e.G. microscopy, mechanical testing, and thermal analysis, dielectric spectroscopy, oil analysis techniques...)Able to transcend your chemical and materials knowledge across different classes of materials (e.G. oils, polymers, metals, ceramics, composites..
